Squad direction help

Have my first 20 zetas and no idea who to put them on. In arena I feel everyone around me is getting stronger and I'm just at a stand still. It's getting harder and harder to stay top 10. I tend to gear characters up then decide they won't improve my team and I just wasted all that gear. Just getting and gearing Chirrut recently, I now wonder if he's really that OP anymore. I'm getting the feeling he's wasting space on my squad. I feel my roster is just a mish mash of good characters but don't form a great squad. Any help forming the best squad from what I have and who should get my zeta? Thanks!
