so any reason why decided to keep it up for people that finished it?

Many people asked for free repeatable content. The devs stated they were interested in offering that, but they didnt yet have a way of giving no rewards. The solution seems to be to reward a nominal 1k credits.

Just treat it as no cost/tiny reward repeatable content that is fun for a lot of people (maybe not for you).
