It’s been some time since our last “State of the Galaxy” thread and we figured it was time to talk to you about some of the things going on in the game. Typically these posts have detailed a single, large topic of interest, but in this SotG we will cover a variety of topics that have been trending in the community.
Recent Game Outage
Over this last weekend, some players experienced outages and weren’t able to log into the game without Wi-Fi. Simply put, we’re very sorry that happened. We have a fantastic team of dedicated people who we often call on to jump in and resolve issues day or night, but unfortunately it took us longer than we would have liked to chase down and resolve this particular issue.
Due to the nature of the problem, we couldn’t identify who was affected by this issue. Our options were to reward nobody or reward everybody. We’ve chosen the latter. We will be sending a package of crystals to the player base’s inbox as a “make good” for the outage. Hopefully you’ll find a practical use for them (I suspect you will)!
There were a number of reports over the Daring Droid event of players receiving too many pop-ups with in-game offers. While we do intend to continue to provide offers like these, we’ve heard you loud and clear and we’re in the process of reviewing the way we run this part of the game.
We want to be able to show players relevant in-game offers, but not at the expense of making your experience in game feel like a whack-a-mole of popups. We’ll continue to monitor the forums as we roll out our new in-game offers strategy and make adjustments as needed.
Rancor Raid Ties
This issue has been around for a while and, as the community has made clear through the voluminous and exhaustive threads exploring the topic, it’s a tough nut to crack. We’ve considered a number of potential solutions in studio trying to balance fairness, while also rewarding players that have made significant investment in characters.
At the moment, we are gravitating towards using a randomized tie-breaker solution. At a high level, all players would log their damage and, during the calculation phase of the raid, for those players that had the exact same amount of damage we would randomize their ranking. As an example if CG_TopHat, Not-Really-A-Jedi, and CG_Kozispoon all logged 100 damage, we would randomize who took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (conveniently, in my example CG_TopHat got 1st place…).
Our hope is that this will be a more equitable way to reward players who ascend to the highest tiers of proficiency within a raid. We’re still stewing on this change though and don’t have a firm date commitment yet. As we make progress on this front, we’ll keep you posted.
We've heard you. And we aren't ready to show anything yet. But, given the feedback on Gar Saxon we're definitely thinking about helmets... a lot.
With the introduction of Sabine, Gar Saxon, and the Imperial Super Commando, a number of players have been asking for a Mandalorian tag.
In the past, we’ve added tags to characters when we weren’t fully prepared to have a play experience around the faction. Fundamentally, we’d like to avoid adding factions to the game until we have game relevant interaction between characters with those tags. At the moment, we aren’t ready to deploy a Mandalorian play experience. That doesn’t mean we aren’t considering it for the future; keep on the lookout.
Please continue to raise issues in the forums and we will do our best to respond to them.
