Anyone else getting constant Error Code 9 and 32 crashes on iOS?

I have been plagued by connection problems and get several crashes per session as a result. Every few minutes I get the connection problem emblem appear and this is followed by one of 5 states:
1) It returns to normal and completes whatever it was trying to move to; the game is fine.
2) It seems to return to normal but only some of the icons are clickable - force close and restart necessary
3) Error Code 9 - force close and restart necessary
4) Error Code 32 - force close and restart necessary
5) "The client must be restarted" - app closes and restarts itself

This happened on both my old iPad Air and my brand new iPad (2017), both with latest iOS.
It happens on all wifi networks and tethered 4G
It happens even when standing right next to a router with 40mb fibre connection

Anyone else experience this? Any solutions? EA support have not been helpful or responsive.
