Time between friend "Support" use

Is there a reset timer or amount of time before you can use a friends characters for missions(again)? How does this system work? Or is this system completely random? For example; I use my buddies Palpatine for a mission, how long after that mission will i be able to use the same character again?

Some hours, somewhere I read 6, I think.

it feels like that's about right because usually after a "reset" ill see the guys again.
