To be fair: about 90% of the community didn't get EP the first time. Many didn't get yoda the first time. Many didn't get Thrawn the first time. Etc
This was me for all the events except CLS. I decided to spend money this time. Probaly wont do so again, because it was to exspensive. These events are designed to take two or more attempts unless you are willing to spend, or unless you have spent a lot of time and effort for months to gear the necessary toons ahead of time.
Thus this is a simple business decision, and it makes since. The longer people play, the more likely they are to have a deep roster, which means you have to add requirements like r2, if you want to continue making the events take time and generate money, otherwise your older players are likely to have all the necessary characters.
