Expansion on Damage Types

Has this been considered for a future game update?

One of the aspects of strategy games I've always enjoyed is matching/countering types of damage. Depending on the game this was either character-centric, or gear-centric. An example would be the armor resistances in the Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG where you had:
1. Kinetic
2. Energy
3. Acid
4. Cold
5. Electricity
6. Heat

In other games there were 'element wheels' to know which damage type was strong versus one, and week to another: Water strong vs Fire, Fire strong vs Earth, Earth strong vs Electricity, Electricity strong vs Water. Then in reverse for what it is weak/vulnerable to Water weak vs Electricity...

A similar wheel could be made with Acid vs Cold, Cold vs Heat, Heat vs Water, Water vs Heat.

Right now SWGOH has Physical and Special damage, which using the above list I would interpret Physical as Kinetic damage, and Special as Energy damage. It would be awesome to see Palpatine's attacks be classified as Electricity damage, Boba Fett's 'Death from Above' be Explosive Damage (Kinetic and Heat damage), Grand Admiral Thrawn's 'Fracture' be Cold damage, etc.

But since armor/gear is generic in SWGOH, the Resistance/Vulnerability to damage types would currently need to be character-centric.

Open discussion for all; what are your thoughts?
Would you enjoy an additional level of tactics when attacking/defending, by using damage types to win battles?
