CLS and R2

The 2 legendary characters. When CLS was released, it was said that R2 would be great in synergy with him. I'm not seeing it. What is it about those 2 together that makes them a dynamic duo? I would see R2 better used in a resistance team with BB8...

Forgot to mention: I'm one of the players that tries to put teams together in factions (aside from Arena) with no overlapping toons so I can use each team once in stuff like raids, TB, etc. So what I'm really asking is: If I had to choose to use R2 with CLS or use him in a resistance team, which would put him to better use?

I use him in my resistance team, but that's because (a) I haven't worked up Pilot so he was my 5th for the team, (b) he gave me a buff to survive the p4 airstrike, and (c) I don't have a zeta on Rey so his stealth allows me not to worry about the counters in TB. I also use him with CLS on my arena team though.

Does he have more synergy with your resistance or CLS? I plan on using them (best-case Scenario of course):

And if I find resistance has more synergy, I would switch R2 with something like Leia or Raid Han

To answer the OP's question, if you have R2's combat analysis zetaed he will be better with CLS led rebels because they can immediately cleanse debuffs if they crit on a counterattack.

Thank you, now I know what to plan on using in TB's and Raids

Under cls lead they can cleanse on counter as mentioned before, also r2 can counter and stun the enemy, under stealth your cls can bring havoc and not get counter, you want more?

Lol nah I think I’m good. R2 does far better with CLS than he does with Bb8 and finn

I use R2 in my phase 1 HAAT team with Commander Luke, and Han Solo. Helps me solo the entire phase as he adds some survivability to the team, and he dies around 50 or 60%.

In Arena he helps a lot under Commander Luke lead as he cloaks everyone so they can't be countered. His Number Crunch when zetad gives a nice boost to everyone. I went from struggling to get into top 10 to getting first, and back in the rotation for my shard. Still haven't zetad combat analysis, but the zeta goes well with a crit heavy team like Commander Luke right now. R2's stuns off his basic is very handy too.

I don't have resistance so can't comment on his usage there.

CLS gives R2 counter chance which means he can stun on a counter

Other than the counter/cleanse synergy, I don't think there's anything that unique about a R2/CLS pairing. They just happen to be among the two best LS units in the game right now, and they each fulfill different roles in almost any LS team. I think that's why you see them together so often.

I'm using Ackbar (leader) with CLS, R2, Leia and Stormtrooper Han at the moment, and it works pretty well. I'm eventually going to swap out Leia for Raid Han; then I'll swap out Stormtrooper Han for Hermit Yoda.
