Everyone who finishes in first place should get first place rewards. I would have thought this was obvious. We've all put in the effort to build the teams so why aren't we getting the rewards.

Has there been any response to this issue from the devs?

They don't really need to give a response because the response is obvious -- they aren't willing to dramatically increase the total amount of rewards given out by doing this.

Also, I would consider their consideration of various means of changing the tiebreaker and the ultimate decision (in the midst of plenty of suggestions of this) as a pretty official response that they are never going to do it.
