  • Keep em. This was all DICE. Too bad they can't buy CG.
#CloneHelmets4Life...VICTORY!!!! "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere." The more you tighten your grip, CG/EA, the more whales will slip through your fingers (and go F2P or quit).
  • So how much 'later' is later????

  • Dang EA is such a terrible, anti user company why are they doing this??? Dont remember other companies trying this hard.

When your shady anti-consumer business practices make the front page of CNNs technology section, cause Disney to come up as the top result for #gambling searches on Twitter, instigate national government investigations into said practices, and warrant a cautious investment rating from top investment publications, of course you have to take actions to cauterize the bleeding.

And the worst part is that EA has this branded on them. No matter what they do they will be looked upon like this, good or bad. It sucks when your reputation out weighs your actions. All EA is now is a place where gamers throw their hate, even though in some cases they dont deserve it.
  • The best thing that could come of this whole debacle would be for Disney to remove the exclusive part of EA's SW license, so we could actually get decent SW games made by other game companies again. There have been a lot of good SW games over the years (LucasArts) which I couldn't see EA agreeing to make in a million years (look to the single player game they recently canned because they couldn't monetize it).

Instead we're stuck with a rehash of a mediocre SW game with worse game mechanics than the original. Well done, EA.

  • I will likely never give EA money again. The reason they rolled back the micro transaction aspect of the game was because Disney caught wind of this fiasco...NOT because of their own morals.

Any company that moves the ptw model from my cell phone and into my living room --after charging full price for a game-- is no longer worthy of my money. I'm glad people are waking up to this sickening business practice.
  • On that Note, I made EA protest teeshirts to help spread the message to keep the pressure on EA. Even after they start rolling out the microtransactions again.

  • I'm loving it anyway. Got Vader after 2 hours play. Almost have Luke now. The campaign is very good imo

Like you say if a player is highly skilled more than me - why can't I spend a little bit of money to unlock and play as Darth Vader, if better skilled people at the game will kill me anyway?

If I want to play as Darth Vader and that is the sole purpose of me buying and enjoying the game - but I am a family man and do not have the time to put in the required 4,500 hours of game time to get him, why can't there be a shortcut to him?

@Boo because the game isnt for you. All games arent for everyone. This is a competetive online multiplayer game, not a casual game. People keep acting like this game has to check every box or be suited just for them. No thats not what games are, thats why there are genres. If yall cant get with this game being not for you because you cant throw money at it to when then thats that. You dont have to go and protest it and harrass the EA dev team.

I dont go protesting strategy games because i dont like them. I let the people the like them enjoy them and move on with my life.

Sorry, but I've been a battlefront game fan from the very 1st game launched on the original xbox.

The original BF2 on xbox was a vast improvement. Yes I appreciate "online multiplayer" games have taken off since then and it is nice that the modern BF games have that feature (obviously), BUT that should not be the only function of the game.

There are many people who enjoy offline, single palyer or co-op and do not have the time to put into highly competitive online games.

I appreciate that this new BF2 does have an offline single player campaign, but like all story games, the player is restricted by the parameters of that story.

Why can't I load an instant action offline-single player game and play as Darth Vader and kick some rebel but if I want to? Is that not fun and an easy function to have in the game?

Considering there is a huge lack of modern star wars console games (stupid Lego games do not count) - it is sad there is an all online multiplayer or nothing approach by developers.

That is my issue - I am not complaining I can't hack online - moreso that I just don't have the time for it and would like to enjoy a game at my leisure, offline. I am not the only one who feels this way.

On another note BF2 is also being criticized on its "packs" sold in game.

Several countries in Europe are stating that paying for packs to hopefully get something but getting other random junk is reinforcing the gambling psychology into children.

These countries (particularly Belgium) are considering banning the game based on this issue, which would then set a case law precedent for all other games involving these "random pack purchases".

To me, this is no different from EA has been doing all along, from Mass Effect to even SWGOH - where does it end.

To be fair I see the point of these countries. It is essentially gambling behaviour as it forces those ill'willed individuals to continue purchasing packs and packs. Where children are potentially left with gambling psychosis and EA decides to open a Casino in Vegas to enjoy their profits.

Pretty sad really. What ever happened to being good in the game because you were actually just natutrally good at it. How much money EA and other game design companies profit from DLC and pre-orders etc, without having to extort further funds from their already paying customers?
Only problem w this theory is that as far as I am aware of kids can't buy packs. In that they can't have credit cards or access to money without parents permission plus u haven't been to chuckie cheese lately then

Nope I have not. But you will be surprised what kids these days have access to.

Children appreciate fast development - they generally lose interest quickly otherwise (this why places such as martial arts have more "belt progression colours" when compared to adults). Kids that want fast progression want, when they can buy a pack, to get what they want. In random packs that is certainly not the case - causing more and more tension within children which is the seed for gambling behaviour.

    It makes sense.

He is easy to get along with every character... it would cost 15,000 game coins to unlock.. I got that in less than a day. Nothing in this game is P2W

Just picked it up today - looking forward to playing.

I guess (gameplay-wise) I am more so criticising BF1 rather than BF2 - but when I heard rumours that BF2 has these issues, I simply saw red.

BF1 was deeply annoying. I can go online and kick but sure - but sometimes and most of the time, I like singleplayer offline play.

I'm sure I'll find some time over the weekend to get a round or two - I hope to be pleasantly surprised - not just in graphics and options this game brings, but also gameplay and offline options as well.

I bet they are upset because stocks in EA went up and are now stagnant with the hold on in-game purchases.

In-game random pack purchases are apparently considered gambling, but so is playing with the stock market, lol - I call it karma.

I just find it interesting how they're chalking it up to "social media outrage" instead of "customers disatisified with their product." Really speaks to what the business types think of gamers.

  • Would be nice to actually have this game.

In Australia no physical PC copy available, only download codes.

My internet is a typical Australian piece of rubbish, so downloading it isn't an option.

i just read in an article that you would have to pay like $2,100 for everything in game . sorry i love star wars but that is just insane

    Or play 4500 hours

well with how this generation is you know they would rather pay the money. i miss the old days of unlocking things by playing for hours . i also think fans have a repsonsibility to be smart and not **** when it comes to making death threats to a developer there throwing money at
Nobody is making you change your playstyle. If you want to spend money you can, but you dont have to. Its no different from this game.
Except the $60 to buy BF:2. Which is kinda the point.

You can play offline as any hero/villain.
There's plenty of different type games for offline.
  • If you haven't played the campaign yet don't read this!
Why did Iden Versio have to become a Rebel... Is one game or movie from the Empire's perspective not allowed or something? I love the Dark Side and they just never seem to be able to do anything in movies or series (except for Palpatine). If Thrawn dies in Rebels I might be done with the Disney Star Wars.

It’s definetely Disney. They don’t want their precious female main characters evil NOOO! Soon phasma will soon join the resistance and females will rule the galaxy under Disney’s rule.
(This is a rant, I don’t mean any of this)

HUGE point with the Disney heat. For the disaster that it is, this panic-move makes the game palatable enough for me to buy it when it goes on sale.

Ya finally played the game last night - I like it. Good single player story too. I like how it swaps the player playing as Iden Versio to other heoroes, like Luke, Leia, Han and Lando.

Im still figuring the game out, but greatly dislike the ship controls. I keep spinning about when I don't mean too.

I with a could swap the straf and spin controls from one stick to the other. I think that may be more confortable, but hard to see if it cant be done. Its a bit frustrating - same with the ATST controls - very hard to get used to.

Those are my only complaints thus far.
