I think a Live PVP mode in both ships and toons will make this game truly amazing. Take RNG out of the equation and battle people real time to test player skills.
I think that would be a game changer to have live PvP. The way to avoid stalling is to have either a 5 or 10 sec time limit each turn sonit will keep the flow going.
Colour me confused if I don't understand how rng is no longer in the equation? Crits not hitting etc will still occur if it's live or not.
For me this is a no. Servers got battered by tb and tw on launch. Imagine the carnage that would occur with constant connections trying to be made between players. Add in the factor of extra time consumption which is already a big gripe in the forums. Not really sure it achieves anything apart from maybe not losing a match on defence because the ai doesn't play like a human.
How would matchmaking work?
They would have to cross your server with every other server just to find someone with a similar gp that is also looking for a battle. Then how do they determine what ranking you are? Worldwide ranking? The top 100 000 would be the new top 10. I can picture the servers crashing or stalling causing players to lose due to connection. Would there still be a limit to battles you can do in a day or would it be based on overall wins? If there is a limit then the rankings will be luck driven. If no limit, then whomever doesnt have a life outside the game will win. Or maybe the whole thing is just for fun. But why bother playing another game mode if you dont get rewarded.
Too many factors to consider. Both from a player standpoint and a developer standpoint. I dont see how it would work.
Lol live game play would = rage x 10
Picture you are crushing yer opponent in first place then they decide to stop attacking and defeat you in a draw. Phone and tablet companies would make a fortofrom all the smash smash smashing going on lol.
That a big NO from me on that idea.

Thankyou for speaking sense, i scrolled way too much for this
Quite simple. If you don't input an attack within 3 seconds the game will do it's own attack based on current algorithms. That eliminates timeout tactics
No - not like it is now - people would troll battles all the time. You'd sit there on your thumb through whole battles.
Let me go back to like... way back... Chronotrigger (it's the only gam eI can think of off the top of my head... I know... I know) it was TM based and Turn based - but it was also live. That is you made decisions, chose abilities, and attacked targets while they and your own team was also gaining TM. In this set up you would 1) steam roll someone who just sat there. 2) would likely have a different comp and 'meta' since there would be a certain reward/tactic for being able to select/attack rapidly.
There's plenty of pvp games, live, with more graphical demands then this one... I play another one right now - the actual PvP is fine - that's not like some crazy new thing. Timeouts for one side, or the other, DO happen, though, so the Live PvP arena should be more in line with TW rewards - that is, winning losing isn't everything - participating in 5 battles or something based on arena rank and maybe total GP should have some determination -- again, that's because Timeouts are just a aprt of life, especially with mobile gaming.
True PvP would be a wonderful thing, but I am sure that we can all see numerous pitfalls in the implementation of such a system. As stated previously, let's just list a few....
1) connection issues
2) player stalling
3) matchmaking nightmares
4) leaderboard positioning and rewards
Based on the past history of new content/format roll-outs, I honestly do not believe that such a game mode could be developed that wouldn't be more of a headache than it was worth. Once again, I would love to see it, but we all know that it would be a mistake.
They can't even make it so you keep a good enough connection to not forfeit PvE battles, why do you think they're capable of making a live connection with another player work?
Live PVP with mods active would just be a mod / speed battle, not skill. Live PVP in real games that have generally balanced characters without Pay to Win makes sense - here I don't see the point.

Agree heavily with this. As cool as it would be in concept, the sheer amount of infrastructure, and constant upkeep and monitoring would not be worthwhile.
You'd need to hire on a team of specialists (or at least people who've done that before) to set up live PvP, dedicate servers to it etc etc.
Speaking from experience, it's a giant headache, and massive inslvestment.
