Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes – The Road Ahead
As we embark on a New Year, it’s time for us to talk again about some of the changes planned for the near-term future of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and what the Road Ahead looks like for the game. Here’s a peek at what’s to come.

We are extremely excited to announce that we are working on bringing you a brand-new raid experience. This new raid takes place in Star Wars: The Old Republic timeframe and allows players to take on the Sith Triumvirate of Darth Nihilus, Darth Sion, and Darth Traya.
The raid will come out with our upcoming Quality of Life update. Expect to see some more updates on what the content will look like – and please keep an eye on forum announcements for more details!


Quality of Life Improvements
We spend a lot of the year focused on new features, and while we are keenly interested in bringing new content and experiences to the players, we acknowledge the need to address opportunities to improve the existing game experience: finesse new features after they’re live and find time savings in older features so that players can spend their time where they choose.

The upcoming Quality of Life update fulfills those objectives in a few ways:
  • Fix for the Raid Tickets display – In January we rolled out a partial fix that will be followed by a full fix to guilds that will serve as a time saver for officers and leaders in managing player activities.
  • Additional Simming – Time savings in routine activities were a big part of last year’s Quality of Life update, and this one is no different.
    • Galactic War is one of the largest player time sinks we’re looking to alleviate, but we don’t want to take away the experience entirely since it’s a place for people to experiment with their team makeup. After beating Galactic War a certain number of times, the entire Galactic War will be simmable for full rewards.
    • Multi-simming will also be brought to ship challenges (unrelated to progress on the capital ship events) to bring it in line with the daily challenges which already have multi-sim capabilities.
    • The Credit Heist and Training Droid events will now also be simmable.
  • Pre-Battle Text Search – On the squad select screen, players will now be able to bring up a filter that searches for any character name or tag. This will help ease the creation of squads without having to go in and out of the character inventory page.
  • Territory Wars Changes
    • Successful Defenses – For those of you wondering how well your defensive squads fared against your opponents, we will now be displaying the number of defenses that each squad has had, to help inform your future Territory Wars experiences.
    • Tie Breakers – While fewer than 2% of battles are currently ending in ties, we know that it disproportionately affects some of the higher GP guilds. Leveraging the successful defenses system, we are now introducing extra banners for beating a defensive squad the first time. This means that when two squads have a tie, the one that beat the other with the fewest losses, will win.
    • Increasing Defensive Squads for Top Guilds – As top Guilds have so many squads, the average of four defensive squads per players isn’t allowing them to fully demonstrate the strength of their rosters, is not challenging them, and can lead to ties. We’ve increased the number of defensive squads required per person at the top tier of play.
  • There are more fixes and improvements coming in the Quality of Life release, and those will be detailed more fully in the release notes.

Wicket, Nightsisters, and the Character Release Cadence
We recently made the following Character Shards available in Shipments. Going forward, you’ll also see them in more traditional farmable locations. These characters will also continue to appear as rewards in their respective recurring events.
  • Wicket
  • Mother Talzin
  • Nightsister Zombie
  • Nightsister Spirit
After listening to feedback and collecting player data, it’s clear that our efforts to make the distribution of these faction-defining characters special - by having them farmable exclusively behind recurring events - has caused confusion on how Marquee characters are released. In the future, we will be working harder to preserve the integrity of the Character Release Cadence, by ensuring that characters released via Marquee events cycle through the game in a more standardized fashion, within clearly defined periods of time.

Characters released via Territory Battles, Legendary events, Hero’s Journeys, and other special occasions will continue to have a more unique and challenging farming schedule.

    All of that speculation was about February, it was never about this update
  • The QoL update is Rose and Holdo as any characters released from now on will be better than them (yes even JarJar who must be on his way now if they are putting characters like these 2 in the game).
  • Today's update wasn't the BIG update they were teasing. That comes in February. This update is just for those two weak characters.
    CLONE HELMETS!! Now let's get Sabine her epic helmet.

    Weak movie wise, but **** they are crazy in the gameplay footage. But good to know that Feburary has potential still!

  • They've mentioned a new game client (ie, new version of the app itself) is coming soon. I'm guessing February is when we'll see a bunch of new stuff, including QoL, maybe new ships stuff (hardware abilities?). They are still getting back on their feet from their New Year's bender.

    What about Palpatines zeta? Is that coming with the QOL or sooner?

    I think the people that play this game, especially FTP are quite patient. These people farm a game for a month just to have one gear piece that they need thousands of for their inventory of characters. These people farm a single character for up to 6 months from a single hard node to 7 star. There is plenty of patient players here. Doesn't mean they can't have an opinion, or expect quick results from those paid (mostly by the players) to develop the content.

    Please, let the QoL update include a way to better manage/move around mods, it's such a pain, i've mostly given up on using most of my roster and just stuck to the few i have modded.

    It feels like a chore to manage/move mods around, and you can easily forget which mod belongs where and misplace them.

    disappointing, but not nesecarily a huge let down. I'd like to be able to swap full sets between characters and search a little but there are so many QOL things that could be done to this game to make it 100 times easier that would make a QOL update without mods still quite great.

    fixing the 3 - 5 carbanti, fixing the tac challenge to be even remotely useful, changing Ship challenges to 3, 4 or 5 per day instead of 2. Adding another tier on the zeta challenge that is 1 - 3 per day instead of 0 - 2. Allow me to sim nodes in GW. increase omega drop rates in Cantina level 8. Update daily output to 2 omegas/day when you are at level 85. Schedule credit heist weekly. Update rewards from droid heist to be useful. Put a share button on the character profile screens so it will screen shot the character/mods/stats and share them to your app of choice so I don't have to take multiple screen shots and scroll.

    Nope cause I got rid of my trash ones, only keep ones that I need and use crouching rancor for all my modding. People dont need to be swapping god mods onto every team they have for every territoy battle and territory war with no repercussions, sounds like you just need more organizational skills or more quantity of good mods

    Its funny to me anyone mentions impatience. See above to the fantastically articulated response to f2p patience. Thats my issue right now, sure ill farm for a month for one dude, but there hasnt been anything exciting (for me) in over a month and a half.

    No Battlefront 2 characters. Perfect opportunity to fill Seperatist/Clone Resistance/FO forces by basing kits off the player characters main troop choices along side the campaign mode dudes. Plus rebels and empire. That seemed really obvious but nothing.

    JT Rey. Didnt panic farm the Vets. So nothing for me there. Plus Rey is meh as far as characters im interested in. Tallie tho...

    FO executioner was late to the party imo. By his release i had already been disappointed by TLJ. I also distinctly remember a commercial for goh before my TLJ showing and thinking to myself "man would have been cool if there was a qr code on screen for preatorian gaurd or fo executioner" once again though nothing.

    Now we come to Rose and Holdo. Look im excited that theyre done and worst case scenario we have FO disquise Rose/Finn in the pipe to interrupt later this year. But only resistance character id be genuinely interested in is Ematt. But, goh has been adamant in refusing to add my preferred minor characters, looking at you Bossk and Hondo, so again nothing.

    My preferred faction of choice is Jedi, but we all know bout them wet noodles. Hoda is cool, but as it stands im not rushing him.

    My CLS is waiting on zetas and im working on Jawas atm. Will we see Blizz or his squad of named Jawas who have personalities? I highly doubt it so, aside from the mod challenges to me the jawas are again nothing.

    Oh and lets not forget the super cool comic characters that are glaringly missing. TF 99, Aphra, her droids, and black krrstan, terex, any the minor characters from either vader series.

    What would excite me thats in the realm of possibilities? Later this year when Rebels ends if we could get the inquistorius thatd be great. Run um like ds phoenix squad. Empire toons with subfaction synergy. But we need bb9 first.... *exasperated sigh"

    So TLDR, seems to me folks are pretty patient and have a lot of love for this. However with so many different types of players pleasing everyone is impossible and there are more reasons than "reeee crying man babies". Nope holdo and rose are not hondo and bossk, lammmeee. Powderpuff resistance meta, glad i put all those resources to cls. Waiting for characters from the star wars i may have liked least is not exciting. And knowing that the characters i like best are unlikely at best is disheartening. Couple all that with EAs lackluster handling of the property (see battlefront 2 loot boxes, SWTOR and its state of being, and the cancellation of that open world rpg) and is it any surprise people are anxious and vocally so?

    Fingers crossed for QoL stuff and more interesting phases later this year.
