Why do we have so much time between the end of the last TW and next TB?

Time balance is probably a part of it, they want to keep the pace to keep the economics in line.

Probably so guilds can add and remove members between events.

I would love to see at least a 1 day breather between the end of one Guild event and the start of the next one. Back to back Territory Wars is killing me.
