Does 'chirpatine' etc... still work in p3 HAAT, now that EP has been reworked?

So I read a comment saying that Chirpatine, Tiepatine, and Teebotine no longer work for phase 3 of HAAT but wanted to confirm and understand why?

Thanks.

  • Chirpatine absolutely will still work, no reason for it not too. For that matter so will the other combos . EP still gets his 15% TM per shocked enemy, so six adds, 90% , chirpa lead, 10%, and the time freeze is still in effect.
  • Well last time I tried it I only did 150k damage, using Tiepatine, but I still had everyone shocked (it does expire though).

Is there a trick to prevent the Boss from gaining TM, or to keep the shock on the side-droids (adds)?
  • The side droids never take turns, so.....

Anyways The trick is to fracture using thrawn, which will lower the counter chance and thus make it more difficult for him to gain TM. Still a small gain every hit though
  • I would suspect you had a bad run, and tiepatine never was usually that good,, 4-800 k depending on mods and rng, put chirpa in there as lead and you will jump much higher score wise then tiepatine will get you
  • The key now is rng because you can't refresh them you absolutely have to land your first several shocks there is no room for error

Ah okay... I will make sure I get good RNG to start & will try using Teebotine instead of Tiepatine ... don't have Chirpa ready yet.
  • I’ve had mixed results with Chirpathrawn in the two HAATs I’ve been in since the rework. First time I think I did around 1.9m damage. Second time was only 800k. It’s definitely different than it was, I plan on using it more to lead into my JTR team that clears most of P3.

I use chirpa lead, Thrawn, Palp, RG, and Sun Fac. And like someone said earlier in the thread there’s no room for error, if you don’t hit each shock just retreat and try again.

Thrawn and EP are g12. Others are low probably g9-10 I forget exactly. Maybe it was just bad RNG my last go but I wish they didn’t take that away from his shock. I have not put a zeta on his unique yet tho so that might change it for the better. Hope it helps.

isn't it just a wiser choice to focus on a super team instead?

I’d say, unless you are gearing up Chirpa already for Ewoks, it seems a waste when a super team uses a bunch of characters who are really useful in other modes as well.

[edit] Although, admittedly 7* BB8 being required would be a sticking point for quite a few.

It depends. If you have the materials for a phase specialist team (perhaps you use 4 of them in an arena team) it's easier to focus on that.
  • I am working on a super team (Ventress/BB8), and my Datch(L) R2 CLS Thrawn RaidHan tmr team can solo P3 but not on auto and it is slow & unforgiving (CLS must be only one uncloaked, and buffed, when Tank fires).
And I already have 3 tanks, EP & Teebo/TFP. And this is the team I use to soften up the P3 side droids for the Datch tmr team. It just hasn't been that effective... though EP is only at G10.
No Chirpa... that will be ways off.

    Anyway,
how is EP's shock different from before the rework? RNG taken away from shock? I think I missed something.

Shock now damages the shocked enemy when it's their turn, not when it's EP's turn.
(and as a recent follower of the tin foil hat club i can tell you that it's all of a sudden a lot harder to actually land shock consistandly. I think it's bugged, but i could be imagining things)

  • Of course one of the super teams is best but there are other options that do decent damage. If I don't feel like trying to get BB8 to escape (or if you don't have BB8) I use a squad that usually takes 20% off p3 on auto. CLS (l), Han, Thrawn, R2, and Zylo. My guild blows throw haat so I like trying different combos. There might be a better option than r2 for that squad. I've never been able to get the Palpatine ones to work as well as others I've tried, but that could just be the quality of my toons for that kind of squad.
  • I just use JTR lead, bb8, R2, CLS, and Jyn now in P3. The Rey/CLS/Jyn TM reduction works great.
  • JTR, BB8, R2, CLS, and Thrawn. Hit auto, walk away and see how far you got into P4 before hitting enrage...
  • We did HAAT today and I did 1.2m with chirpatrawn. So it’s still viable just isn’t the same without the side droids taking damage once Palp starts to fade it only took one hit to take them out before you lose everyone setting your next team up with just the main droid (hopefully) at least that’s my limited experience haha.

Also, they changed his second special. It used to refresh the duration of shock, and no longer does since the rework.

No I think it seems off as well - used EP a lot even prior to the update and it's less frequent to land on enemies.
  • Btw out of topic, i'm testing zader lead, thrawn, bb8, tarkin, TFP in p3. Seems work just fine (although not great). Enter p3 at 50% left, then ended in 20% p4. Could be other option for big damage in p3.

Ps: I have akbar super team n can solo p3 - p4. I just like to try new combination.
