Ground War - Assault Battles What is the point?

I don’t get it, why are Resistance and Ewoks fighting against Geonosians and Separatists in this event. Its 8 stages (unlike most other events) and has no relevance to the Star Wars lore or movies, why not clones or Galatic Republic Jedi, that would make actual sense. What are peoples thoughts? And could we maybe look at a change?

The bit about Resistance and Ugnaught has been asked since the event started. Reason is they wanted to use those factions.

All assault battles are 8 waves.

b. In this game, rarely things make perfect sense. Why is CLS fighting with Clone Wars Kenobi? Why is Rey fighting with Old Ben?

My only problem with it is the gear reward. No way an Assault Battle should give green gear...

A complete waste of time, i stopped doing it because its not worth the battery power needed to complete it
