Thread Merger Policy

Please do away with your policy of merging duplicate threads on the same topic into a single thread. It creates confusion and makes it extremely difficult to follow the discussion due to literally merging multiple unique conversations.

A policy of locking duplicate threads and linking to the active discussion as a redirect would create a far healthier community experience.

Also, if there is a thread dedicated to a single facet of the topic and not the whole, don't merge it! Meaningful discussions are impossible in megathreads.

i also really dislike the comments totally out of context due to it being merged, but something must be done about the endless threads on exactly the same topic. It's a lose/lose scenario imo.

Part of the design behind the direction we are given to move things to sub forums, is to reduce the need for mega threads. unfortunately there are time when even a sub can be overridden by a single topic, many of which could have been comments on a different post. At this point we are directed to merge to keep the redundant posts in a single thread.
