Just out of curiosity, why give a bonus for empty slots on offense? If I attack with three units and win with all three living, I get +2 for empty slots and +3 for surviving units. This makes it so it is no better than using 5 units to attack with all surviving; I get 20 banners either way. I would suggest basing the surviving unit bonus on percent surviving, not amount. Ex: I use three units, they all survive. I get 5 banners for surviving units then 2 more for empty slots. This would actually motivate people to use fewer than 5 units. Note that if this changed, it would probably have to be a possibility of 10 banners for surviving units instead of 5.
