On your current shard, if you climb for a day or two until you hit a brick wall and can't climb further for a couple of weeks then that's when you're matched with players more or less at your strength.
What's the point in joining a new shard where you take top ranks? If you are not able to focus and work consistently towards your goal (you wrote yourself, that you fidn't focus on ships) you won't be able to maintain those top ranks any way.
