Since Thrawn is around the corner

I am worried if I'll manage to get a 7* Thrawn this time with my current Phoenix squad: https://swgoh.gg/u/cyclonick/squads/89245/

I would like to skip getting Zeb to g9 as well as "omega-ing" all their basics so I can save the resources for my arena team. Their uniques are omegad'd though.

What do you think. Is it doable?

EDIT: changed link to phoenix squad which includes speed stat info

  • I would bump up Zeb's speed a bit, but otherwise you should be good to go after a few attempts of RNG
I make character kits! Ask me and I will try my best to make one for fun.

You can make squads on swgoh.gg which makes it easier to see your current team's speed and mods
Here's an example of my team http://swgoh.gg/u/boii/squads/69169/

    Hoping thrawn comes this month.
  • Thanks for the replies! I have nice mods on my arena team that I can switch over to the phoenix.

Here is a link to the phoenix squad with speed info: https://swgoh.gg/u/cyclonick/squads/89245/
    Thanks for the tip boii.

I have decided to see how far I can go with the current setup and am currently saving some omegas and crystals to adjust if needed.

I just do not want to have to do 650 tries till RNG decides to finally give in...
  • Get the kill order down too.

In terms of gear and ability levels, you’re probably fine. I’d agree with the earlier poster who suggested making Zeb faster, since you’ll need to use him often to stun-lock Thrawn.
Here’s my Phoenix squad for comparison. I got 7* Thrawn last event and aside from Chopper now being gear 10 (he was gear 9 for the event), it’s pretty much the same now as it was for the event, including mods: https://swgoh.gg/u/kaimulai/squads/26311/
  • Mine were the same level but i had hera, kanan, and ezra at g10. Took about 12 tries to get it right. The key is to get the deathtroopers down first and using chopper to dispell buff on ST

    Thanks for all the input.

@Kai_Mulai I did see that you had Ezras special as well as Zebs and Choppers basics omegad. Was that necessary to complete the Thrawn event?
And with that team how many tries did it take you?

I haven't tried tier 7 but I am prepping by omegas on all basics and uniques to make it easier. My mods are decent. 2 gear 9 and 3 gear 8. I should be able to clear it.

Omega's aren't necessary - the event can be done without them. It just leaves you a lot more vulnerable to RNG. The stronger your team is (gear, mods, abilities), the fewer tries you will need for completion of the event - as you won't need the stars to align just right for you to win.

I think it took me 4 tries. I got down to just Thrawn all 4 times, but the first 3 times I was focusing more on speed for Kanan than protection. I changed to more protection-focused mods for Kanan the 4th time, and that time I got it. I put omegas on everything I thought I'd need. Don't know if the extra omegas were needed or not, but like Trystan said, they most likely made the event easier and less dependent on random chance.
  • You need more speed on Ezra and Hera, but besides that, I think you can pull it off. Very comparable to the team I used.

I didn't check if you have it, but you want at least around 50% Potency on Zeb. Speed can even be sacrificed for that purpose, because you will be relying heavily on his stun. Potency is good on Hera too, but nowhere near as important.

    UPDATE: I did it finally
Here is my phoenix squad used: https://swgoh.gg/u/cyclonick/squads/105673/

Since my OP I had geared up Ezra from 9 to 10 and put omega on choppers basic as well as Ezras basic and special.

Compared to the past event where the Phoenix team was lvl 75ish this time it was a breeze.

Took me 3 tries to do it. I did not put my arena mods on them. I did not even follow the suggested kill order (stormtrooper was first to go down) but fought how the situtation demanded it.
It did not feel like it would totally rely on Zebs stun. He was actually killed pretty much at the beginning. It felt more like I had control over the battle compared to the last time the event was on. The team as a whole was not so squishy and did a lot more damage.

I also do not think that gearing up Ezra and Chopper was really necessary to succeed. However getting the complete team to lvl 85 really makes a difference in terms of robustness and damage output. Omegas on all uniques should also make it a lot easier.

Good luck to all who still try...cheers

EDIT: what does make a difference though is the setup when you enter the last stage.
I failed the first 2 times because my TM at that point allowed Thrawn to go off immediately with his fracture.
The 3rd try let me do the first move and it felt a lot smoother. Also Thrawns decisions on whom to fracture or whom to give TM can play a significant role.
