Linux/Windows on Chromebook, non-Steam mods viable?

Hi! I find myself in a unique position in that I run a Linux chroot on my Chromebook (Trusty/Unity), and this allows me access to Steam. I play Knights of the Old Republic 2 on there mostly (Chromebook cannot handle too much, of course, just both KotORs and all other misc files). It all works great and Steam Workshop mods work! However, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else who was/is in a similar situation or at least has knowledge with this stuff to help me out?

I worked for three weeks, recoding and downloading and installing new programs and reconfiguring both the Linux and Chromebook software and am generally aware of the codes and commands, but if someone could step in and help in very simple terms, that would be much appreciated.
