Can't attack?

Ok, I get it that my defences got wiped out... But why can't I attack? It seems that my opponent does not show any defence so there is nothing to attack.

Perhaps the best defence is no defence at all??

I thought if your enemy did not set any defense you would be credited with each empty spot as a automatic win and maximum points. I know in the first GA event (the bugged one) my enemy didn't set any defense and i had the amount of points as if he had set a defense and i had perfectly cleared them
