I wish people wouldn't do leaks

That might sound stupid, but here's why.
1. If it is false, then it just wasted everyone's time and resources and leads to disappointment.
2. If it is true, it can lead to several things
A. The event or rework leaked might be postponed, changed, or even cancelled
B. There is no element of surprise or thoughtful planning. Nobody has to solve CG's clues, nobody has to analyze in game trends, nobody has to conserve and save resources.
C. It kills the hype and makes everything mainstream. If everyone knew precisely what to do for Revan or GG 3 months in advance, can you think of how much that would've ruined arena? We'd have had an overflow of Revans after his first event, and then everyone would just be sitting on a g12 GG waiting for the rework. It's just the same as when a rework has already been made and everyone knows about it. There's no anticipation.
D. Anyone who doesn't follow the leaks and follow the exact same path as every other player will get crushed. If 90% of players prepped for a meta before it was announced, then on day one everyone has it g12 and if you don't you're toast. No fun. I like how it takes a few weeks for metas to really switch over.
E. It only forces the devs to make things even harder. If nobody panic farms anything, then paywalls will be set on everyone by other means, and understandably so.

So, that's my 2¢. Don't get me wrong, I love speculation, the clues, the hints. But a leak that just says "you can expect this and that at precisely this time requiring X" has none of that same fun.

  • I personally like to be prepared as much as possible. I do understand what your saying about people giving out false/bad/wrong information but thats why you should always check your sources for credibility.
  • I just don't read them. I don't care.

They don't change stuff when things get leaked, the leakers just got it wrong in the first place.

really good post...while i generally agree, the forums are more like the user manual for the game. when i first started i didnt use it at all. it was just fun 'what's this do or that do?'....then arena opened up and i was in the 2000's somewhere. i didnt know at that time those were squads from other players(the top was more than fifteen levels ahead). once i got up to 1000 or so is when i found out they were other players. thats when i realized they weren't just ahead, they were pulling away and accelerating because of the resources given there.

this is a resource management/strategy game. if u want to 'win', u have to watch every preview u can of the new. if the collecting is more important than 'winning', these forums aren't necessary or important. if you dont really want to know about 'what might b coming soon'....u can choose to ignore those types of posts. as for it being bad for the game... consider: a new movie coming out with no hype attached. it just shows up in the theater and all u have is the title, no star or co-star or even a poster to look at....it then becomes very difficult to sell those tickets because the audience is unlikely to risk the price of admission on the chance it might actually b good....some of the best ideas never come to fruit because nobody knows about it

But if everyone is prepared, it's the same as nobody being prepared. Except that instead of getting caught off guard, if you're the one who didn't prep, you get crushed.

Thank you. And like I said, I think hints and speculation and setup is very important. Giving people a 12 step walkthrough months in advance isn't quite the same.
  • Months in advance? This “leak” told many players what they already knew - farm Carth and Juhani ASAP or miss the new meta toon that comes out in a couple of weeks. Show me a leak that gave accurate info “months in advance.”

“But if everyone is prepared....” Nonsense. “Everyone” doesn’t read the forums. And “everyone” isn’t earning 900+ crystals a day to do multiple refreshes AND buy shards using crystals. All a leak does is give high performing, semi-F2P players a cue to shift resources if they want to keep up with the true spenders.

The average player isn’t here. And even most players here likely don’t have the resources to take 2 toons from 50 shards to 330 in 15-20 days.

  • Knowing stuff in advance gives the ftp and light spenders at least some chance to compete with the whales, so bring in more leaks.
  • This wasn't a huge surprise though, everyone has been expecting it. The surprise is going to be L337 was not for the droids but for a solo legendary (nothing confirmed, nothing leaked but the "solo bundle" is a huge clue).

Your movie example makes me think exactly the other way... because nowadays, I don't like watching modern movie trailers anymore, because they are regular full of too many spoilers. Hyping up the interest is one thing, but if they already show all the best scenes, cameo appearances etc. in the trailer, the movie won't hold any surprises anymore and become boring instead of exciting. The same thing can happen to a game, too. I hate the leaks as well, it's hard to not read them when looking through the forums regularly, puzzles and clues are definitely more fun.

  • Not to sound crass, but what is more fun, solving a forum puzzle or avoiding daily uphill arena battles for 3-4 months?

You need better caulking material, then.

You mean battles against the whales who make up for lack of information by throwing cash at the game? That's where leaks help level the playing field.
  • I don't know anyone who does leaks. I knew a guy who snorted onions though...

"Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen...mostly"
  • Leaks are just a part of marketing nowadays. All this information that "leaks" from movie sets is but a way to get free media exposure. People love being let in on a secret.

  • Sep 12 - jolee and bastilla became farmable. Sept 26 - mission ,zalbar and t3 became farmable. Oct 18 revan event

Jan 16 - bastilla fallen and ordo became farmable. Feb 20 - juhani and onasi became farmable. Darth Revan even soon ?
  • All leek related humor is 10/10.

Also, sure it helps the non whales... But by level the playing field, you mean straight up bulldozer socialism level field. It takes no planning, no thought, nothing. All you have to do is follow the instructions months in advance. In the long run, for the smart players who save gear and invest in the right toons, it is WORSE because now EVERYONE is getting the stuff. And it makes it all pointless. If 3 people have a character, arena barely notices. If 53 people have a character, anyone who doesn't gets trashed.
