Nest bonus protection issue

Here’s Nest’s ability. It clearly says “...(B)onuses expire at the end of her NEXT turn.”

The problem I am seeing is if she attacks somebody with retribution, that toon hits her back, Nest gains the bonus protection, but then loses that bonus protection at the end of that same turn.
