Squad leader in TW and GA

Hello.
I have question about leaders in defensive squads on TW and GA.
Is ability if dead leader works in next battles?

For example.
I set up defensive squad with Bastila shan as a leader (we all know her leader ability), but if she is defeated in first fight but rest of her squad wins the battle, is her ability works in next battles or another squad member takes the leader seat (for example Yoda ).

If the leader is killed, there's no active leader ability in the next attempt/battle.
