Ship Platoons in Hoth TB

While we greatly appreciate developers removing new characters from the platoons, I'm curious why it wasn't done to the ship platoons? Ebon Hawk and the Emperor's Shuttle are not yet farmable, and at best I would say some people got them to 5* during their Galactic Chase events. I have them at 4*. They are the newest ships out and the only way to get them to 7* is to spend crystals on them either directly thru shipments, which at 100 crystals per shard, would be very expensive or gamble and buy fleet cards and hope out of 36 possibilities, you get one of those 2 ships, which is still going to be very expensive.

I hope that you will take this into consideration and remove them from ship platoons before the next TB. And by the way, my guild just scored our first 45* TB, so it's not like it held us back that much, but I still think it's unfair. We were only able to get 3/6 ship platoons on the last section. That extra help may have prevented other guilds from achieving a * in one of those 2 lower territories affected by the ship platoons.

I believe they stated they will just not be adding "new" toons and ships, meaning nothing will change from here on out.

They will become farmable (or whatever the plan is for the GC) and platoons will not change so players cns farm them and be ready.

@CG_SBCrumb can you please elaborate on this? You stated in another post that "Platoons in the Rebel Assault and Imperial Retaliation Territory Battles will no longer include newly released characters." Why can this not include newly released ships as well. The Ebon Hawk and the Emperor's Shuttle are currently locked behind a pay wall. Can these not be removed from the Hoth ship platoons?

Why the need for their elaboration, when you could go back and check the official announcements and patch notes from back when it was changed?
  • The issue that @Tygra (and many others) have is that they have a different definition of "newly released" compared to the devs.

What the devs meant was that from that moment (start of April) onwards, nothing that joined the holotable inventories would ever be part of platoons for Hoth Territory Battles. Droideka, B1, Ebon Hawk and Emperor's shuttle had all joined the holotable before that point, so they were not covered by this announcement. Malak joined later, so according to the announcement he should never appear in platoons for a Hoth TB.

What many players think is that non-farmable toons / ships should not be in platoons, and when they read the announcement they assumed that the non-farmable content was covered by the announcement because they skim read and saw what they thought they wanted to see.

In addition, at the same time they made this announcement, they released the actual platoons they intended to implement. So just clicking on the spreadsheet would have made it clear that they didn’t mean Ebon Hawk and B1 were excluded—they were right there in the announced platoons.

You would think that. Except they also erroneously added required characters to platoons in the same phase they are required, as well as "Hoth Heroes" which were originally stated to never be in platoons, and, iirc, they had Ahsoka in a DSTB platoon initially.

So, you can't just say "hurr durr read teh spreadsheet" because it was clearly wrong (in the sense that they did not actually want those characters in those platoons), and is possibly still wrong.

You think anybody actually clicked on the spreadsheet, saw Ebon Hawk, saw IPD in DS6, and said to himself “IPD must be a mistake therefore I can conclude that Ebon Hawk is also a mistake”? AND that said person waited until actually seeing the platoons in game before raising the issue? Or do you think it’s far more likely that the people raising the complaint about Ebon Hawk now are people that didn’t even bother to look at the spreadsheet and just assumed that the post meant what they wanted it to mean?

I would guess most people simply didn't look, because they wrongly assumed that CG wouldn't screw them up so badly. But CG was told about all of this weeks ago, and chose to ignore it (though they did remove Ahsoka from the p3 DS platoon), so not sure it matters if the people complaining looked or not.

It's not an unfounded assumption. With so many other obvious errors, it makes sense that he would think the Ebon Hawk was also a mistake. Especially since, at the time, Ebon Hawk wasn't even in shipments yet, and they had not yet informed us that the changes weren't taking place until April.

All things considered, thinking none of those characters listed would show up should have been a safe assumption, because they were not farmable in any form at the time of announcement, nor are they on nodes even now. It is directly contrary to their statement of not having us platoon characters and ships we cannot farm.

Okay, fine. Then let's look at what was *actually* said, and when.
Platoons in the Rebel Assault and Imperial Retaliation Territory Battles will no longer include newly released characters.

The above was posted on 3/14. 4 weeks after the release of the Shuttle, 3 weeks after B1, 2 weeks after Droideka, and less than a week after Ebon Hawk. At this time, certainly the Ebon Hawk is "newly released." And it's not a stretch for the other three, since their own stated cadence considers them new until they go to shipments.

If you really want to split hairs, then fine, the Shuttle and B1 aren't "newly released," but there weren't even any updates between Ebon Hawk release and the Platoon announcement, so not sure how you can say it and Droideka aren't "newly released."

But what the OP is complaining about isn’t a screw-up. It’s an assumption that the post meant what they wanted it to mean rather than what it said.

It's not an unfounded assumption. With so many other obvious errors, it makes sense that he would think the Ebon Hawk was also a mistake. Especially since, at the time, Ebon Hawk wasn't even in shipments yet, and they had not yet informed us that the changes weren't taking place until April.

Multiple appearances of Ebon Hawk, Palpatine Shuttle, B1, AND Droideka? I would bet you $100 that the OP never looked at the spreadsheet.

And I wouldn't take the bet, because I don't think it matters. All things considered, thinking none of those characters listed would show up should have been a safe assumption, because they were not farmable in any form at the time of announcement, nor are they on nodes even now. It is directly contrary to their statement of not having us platoon characters and ships we cannot farm.

Why on earth would that be a safe assumption? The statement wasn’t that you wouldn’t have to platoon characters you can’t farm. That statement was never made and is once again an example of reading something into the post that wasn’t said.

At best you can argue that the term newly released is ambiguous. Obviously the devs meant that because they will now be static, they will not include characters newly released after the date of that post. If you were unsure whether they meant that vs currently farmable vs some arbitrary definition you’re making up of “came out in the last update” or something, you could have looked at the spreadsheet and it would have resolved that ambiguity.

No, you couldn't have, because there were (and are) several errors in it. How are we to know which are correct and which are not?
  • The issue that @Tygra (and many others) have is that they have a different definition of "newly released" compared to the devs.

What the devs meant was that from that moment (start of April) onwards, nothing that joined the holotable inventories would ever be part of platoons for Hoth Territory Battles. Droideka, B1, Ebon Hawk and Emperor's shuttle had all joined the holotable before that point, so they were not covered by this announcement. Malak joined later, so according to the announcement he should never appear in platoons for a Hoth TB.

I refer you back to my post @StarSon

I assumed that they were drawing a line in the sand. That from that point forward all toons / ships that subsequently were released to the holotable would not be in platoons for a Hoth TB.

Others assumed that, for some reason, recently released toons also qualified for this amnesty (despite a wealth of history showing that the devs have not batted an eyelid about placing newly released toons / ships in platoons).

“Newly released” could be described as a vague term, but I know dozens of people who interpreted it the way I did, which turns out to be the correct interpretation.
