Supporting deployed troops

I'm sure Im not the only one who is in the armed forces. But its increasingly frustrating that the game punishes those who do not log in daily and are away from the game for long periods of time.
I'm not asking for freebies, just some recognition from the devs that some people are unable to log into the game for extended periods due to commitments and bring something into the game to entice people to continue
when they return back into the game, similar in scope to what many other games out there do.
What are other people's thoughts?
