The idea is simple, during preview phase upon joining every player chooses between dark and Light side. Then the game pairs an older player (Master) and a newer player (apprentice or Padawan). The two players are connected by a chat room in game and they basically join events together. Duo GA and sharing rewards from certain events and activities. They both collect points that contribute to their faction, light or dark and after a couple weeks one of the two sides wins and everyone gains rewards based on winning or losing.
The older player (master) also gains mastery depending on how the newer player performs under his apprenticeship and training. The newer player gains alot of shard rewards like IPD shards, Rolo shards, ect. The idea is to help new players speed up their process and give older players the opportunity to share their knowledge for rewards. After a month both players can vote if they want to stay with their paired player, if both players vote yes they are paired again, of one votes no they are both assigned to a new pair.

I'd imagine an activity check could be put in place. Comparing master/apprentice data such as grand arena participation, TW participation, etc
