But this point in the thread, you should avoid mentioning Malak or Gp. It's not a factor. We established this hundreds of times. Read how it works ppl, please.

You might have argued that Malak is not a factor and ignored all reality by doing so. Fact is:
There are no good reliable counters for DR/Malak teams if you don’t have Malak.

This is how good/fair matchmaking should work:
Match players with same meta toons and similar gear level. Then as a second factor look at the GP of the top 80 toons. A GP difference of a few 100k is actually not as relevant in GAC as a meta team that cannot be beaten.

But I guess people who argue against this are just afraid they might get matched against opponents, not victims.

No dude. It's not factored into the matching system. Total gp is not factored into the matching system. Cup is not factored into the matching system. All it looks at is the total gp of your top 80gp toons.

what you just suggested would match those with specific characters only against others with those same characters, which would encourage ppl like me to continue not having Darth revan or Malak. Does that clarify it better? They don't want to encourage "staying lean" in any sense.

So what is the downside of the matchmaking I suggested?

It was literally in the same sentence. It would cause ppl to intentionally not progress in certain areas of the game to gain an advantage, which they are against.

You want to tell me that people would hold if getting characters that are extremely useful in every aspect of the game only to get a favorable matchup in GAC... I don’t think so.

    Then you think wrong.

"Useful" is replaceable. But being able to guarantee consistently better matches by keeping a single character locked? That is not replaceable. And it will be an acceptable trade for many. Which is the rub of turning specific characters into hard lines in GA.
    Still not a he.

There's a balance between players/CG/EA/Investors that must be maintained. In the end, investors are looking for a return on investment, EA is trying to meet those investor expectations. The rub is in designing a game to increase spending, if taken too far, upsets the players. EA is actually caught between players and investors, and needs to find a win/win path. Thi is apparent in Match Making. It is clear vocal players on the forums don't like the current match making. But I imagine EA/CG is reviewing internal metrics to determine if spending is with targeted levels and will adjust match making accordingly. I don't fault EA for their approach as they are a company traded on the stock market. On the other side is customer satisfaction. No one likes feeling taken for granted, and sometimes I get the sense that many on the forums or reddit revolt against that. Many want to support the game, but want a fair return themselves.

I am not sure of the way out, but it must be a win/win path. These forums and reddit are a vehicle coupled with internal metrics to better understand the facts, but at the end of the day, if players are not happy, then the balance leans to far one way.
what an ugly thing to say... does this mean we're not friends anymore?

I feel like GAC is just too competitive for some people. Maybe it would bei good to give an option to choose at the start of GAC: 1) pvp 2) pve, playing random bot teams similar to galactic war

Look at history: many many people resisted adding extra GP to their roster for the sake of GA, even though it could help them in other areas.

The “victims” you speak of only wish to become the much better player, not actually have a viable opponent. In a perfect world, matches would be mirrors every single time; with the winner decided by RNG. That’s not fun.

I am curious to determine a course of action. After this most recent round, I was determined to have lost a tie round, but the opponent won as a result of GP. However, this opponents GP in total is almost 600K lower than mine in total. Character specific GP they are 300K lower than me. What exactly is the logic here for the determined loss? As it is next to pointless to contact customer service for a resolution I would really like some level of clarification on this. Is this a bug?

Asked and answered many times. It’s the matchmaking GP that settles a tie, not total.

DarjeloSalas, I appreciate your response. However, where do I locate the specific section that outlines the matchmaking GP selection then?

You don’t - the community have established how matchmaking seems to work. The devs have not explicitly stated that this is how it works, but the evidence suggests we’ve figured it out correctly.

The only information we've been given can be found here: https://forums.galaxy-of-heroes.starwars.ea.com/discussion/207546/grand-arena-championships-matchmaking#latest

and by clicking on the "i" button in GA itself. The devs have said in the past that they will not provide us with the exact algorithm used for matchmaking. But players have concluded based on the information that we have that people are most likely being matched based on the GP of the top X characters, where X is 10 times the number of defense teams you set at your GP level.

@CG_SBCrumb I don't use the forums much. So I'm unsure of where to post. I was helping alliance guilds and moved too many times and can't get into my guild. I was not mercing. Is there any hope I can get in before TB starts. Talked to EA support and they said CG would have to do it

While I don't yet have the team in place, this is not an accurate assessment anymore. In my guild discord, the officers are explaining the counter team details. It appears to be reliable.

There is no reliable counters to Malak unless you have Malak, especially G13. Even GG relies on rng.

I ma currently getting thrashed in GA, my average losing margin is around 400 points because I can't defeat a G13 Malak even using multiple teams; so why do I still get matched against them? At one stage I lost 7 games in a row - all to G13 Malaks, GA isn't fun when you see a G13 Malak and you know you are going to lose.
Looking for 1 member with 3.5m+ GP roster to help in GEO TB; we are 185m guild who are 70-6 in TW.

This time around I got matched against much weaker opponents in GAC. While this was admittedly some fun for a change it still proves the point of how off the matchmaking is.

My opponents had no chance. And unlike others here I won’t claim it was my superior strategy or my masterfully crafted roster.

I seriously don’t understand why matchmaking doesn’t take meta toons into account and match players at least with the same metas. This would make matches so much more interesting.

Looks like 99% of the messages here are about failed matchmaking... Folks, I have good news for you rejoice and chill out: IT DOESN'T MATTER!

In the end, regardless if you finish in the prestigious Kyber or the mundane Chromium, you'll be equally disappointed at your rewards (and probably even more so in higher tiers): A few thousands of that junk currency for a whole month of battles, ****?

And even if you are somehow blind to that fact and are happy with your 5000 Championship $, you will then head to the store and cry over what that loot actually buys you: peanuts! It's worth about 3 days of Arena payouts, or one week worth of gear farming, and not even a whole month worth of... Galactic War simming!

Well that’s where the (by various specialists) often mentioned strategy comes into play. If you got a G13 DR/Malak team and your opponent doesn’t even have a DR then not much strategy required. But if you both have DR/Malak you will have to look at all of your opponents toons, play through various scenarios, consider their likelihood and then come up with a strategy to beat your opponent. I don’t see how there will be a lot of mirror matches. What would be the scenario?

Points are bugged just got 1670 for a full clear two teams per area. One shot all teams. Even if it was 50 points a win that should be 1870. 4b9bwqz6q4kg.png

Send a private message to CG_LucifersDaddy with as many details as you can, including both your ally code and the ally code of the player you are reporting.

Well considering you want to match people with similar meta toons, then yes there will be very similar matches. This game works a lot with counters, and the point of these full roster battles is to utilize the strategy of those counters.
