The problem with GAC being the "central game mode"

(First let's just skip over any of the bugs/problems people are having with this first GAC, that's why it's an exhibition/test one.)
However, with all this noise from CG about making GAC the central game mode instead of Arenas there's one massive glaring issue:
Days like today, and every other day, where you have sod all to do!
If they're going to have that then they need to time it so that significantly more events and non-GAC-attack Feats are available to do on the no-action days! @cg_SBCRUMB

This game is played around the world. Any event that based on a static timer (not timezone specific) is going to lead to the problem for someone.

They dont have everything ironed out yet, and this includes the schedule, but it is doughtful they will add more events (for many reasons) and we have already seen non GAC feats, but there is a limitation there too.
  • @Kyno it's such a bad game I don't know why so many people play it for 3+ years.

    @Nico sarcasm exists.
  • Huge problem is they left the ships out of GAC.
    This is plain ridiculous.
Constantly neglecting vital portion of the game.
People who invest in fleet are getting punished by maxing useless heroes and pag for it in GA.
A lot of people gamble for millenias it does not mean casinos have good games. it means people have low iq.

They left them out of this round of GAC. They will likely rotate in with different maps much like they did before, at some point.

Also, ships count towards your reward bracket (i.e.- they are being rewarded) and left out of matching when no ships are involved (almost another reward right there), they are not left out of GAC at all, they are just not a centerpiece at this point.

You may want to reflect on that last line a little...

I think counting shipps GP is problem. Right now, ppl in higher divisions will get points faster than ppl in lower divisions, because they can set / beat more teams => getting a lot more points, but they still need same amount of points to advance to next league. That feels totally unfair. It could be fixed by setting different league thresholds in different divisions.

But since it counts ship GP too that would mean that some ppl in lower divisions would be able to set more teams than others, while needing less points for next league.

I'm actually very excited for GAC to be the central game mode! Shame how this one turned out.

The real shame is everyone asked for them to do more with the community to help game modes roll out, and when they do, everyone acts like they were not crystal clear that this was a soft roll to help iron out the issues.
  • Once we get more fleet commanders and ships, it would be cool to have a full ships GA.

Like the one coming where you have to choose between g12 finishers or farming a capital ship.... Seems brilliant

Yeah they made it pretty clear that this was an exhibition/test run so issues/bugs were to be expected...although they didn't exactly do themselves any favours by sending that message to say it'd been cancelled and would restart and that we'd receive rewards for our participation so far only for that "reward" to be 1 single credit!!

I think most (reasonable) people were expecting a few bumps along the road, but releasing a feature that is absolutely unplayable and needs to be taken down goes far beyond "a few bumps".

Actually, I think I any reasonable player would be happy that the bump in the road was that it closed out rather than we go through hoops for no reason. Of all the issues we could have had, a close out for all players is actually pretty smooth.

It was also responded to fairly quickly and directly, and a plan to finalize this one and move onto another test run laid out.

    All in all, not bad.

Kyno, you move from point to point trying to invalidate peoples opinions by throwing your opinion about but other people do have valid points. You can defend the oversight on CG's behalf but the fact of the matter is, releasing a new mode that factors in ships but doesnt let you use them is a poor decision. All you need to do is go back and check how many people moaned about the original grand arenas using total gp. So many players already feel like they aren't listened to within the community and CG's response is to release a game mode that **** all over those previous complaints.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not phased the GA is messed up and I think most of the community are too quick to judge but this issue is a longer stemming issue and it comes from frustration that have built up over a long time. Just a few examples which have lead to a disenfranchised player base; the removal of the monthly crystal booster packs, CG using double drops as a reward for missed GA, dropping farming nodes back to 5 from 8, blatant cash grabs from new paywall characters only for them to be nerfed due to bugs... only for gamebreaking bugs to be left unattended such as the TB one and then there is the key kryotech gear that is farmable from one location. These are just some of the situations that has lead to a public outcry and nothing has been done. The further this game gets into its lifecycle the less and less the community seems to be listened to and that, for me, is the real crux of most players complaints.

CG as a developer should have been able to predict this outcry and yet they chose to let the GA run anyway. Morale is a key thing to keeping people playing and consistently making them feel like a second class citizen is not helping

Read some dev posts carefully, then you can complain. Because that reward is being evaluated on Monday

I think a “few bumps” would be patching up the Sith Raid. GAC is a huge new feature, and the best way they can prepare for one is by giving a test run. They responded well to the issue, considering that it’s the weekend. And people need to realize that things happen; mistakes, interferences, I mean CG isn’t perfect

It sounds like the issue was a caching issue which isn't something that is generally gonna show up on internal testing.
