You don't really think the development staff works on commission or tips do you? They are professionals who work for salaries. Pretty good ones I imagine since they're in California. Their professional responsibility is to produce content and a working app.
p.s. if I went to a new restaurant doing a soft opening and ordered an entree only to have them tell me later that I had to leave and come back Monday with nothing to show for it - I would not be inclined to tip very well.
