MVP of the Padmé Event... the mighty Nute Gunray!
Stressful... exhilarating... heart pounding... fun! These are just some of the words I would use to describe this event. I had been looking forward to this event for a while. I did all the right things. I geared up my Seps, slapped a zeta on GG’s unique, and even practiced in GW with the squad comp I would use for the event. But then, I hit a slight road block...
For tier 5, it couldn't have been easier. I used gear 12 zzAsajj lead, gear 12 zGG, gear 11 B2, gear 11 dooku, and (at the time) gear 9 Nute. I beat it on my second try. And then, there was tier 6...
I had a feeling that based on my results with tier 5 and using GG lead on the first try and then Asajj lead on my second, that neither would work for tier 6. So instead I omega’d Nute’s lead and BEAT IT ON MY FIRST TRY! A Nute lead team felt like I was in control and I owned the event. So I crossed my fingers and hopped over to tier 7...
To no surprise of my own, tier 7 was harder. Not too much, just harder. My toons seemed to hit weaker and seemed to go down earlier. After taking Nute from gear 9 to gear 10, slicing some mods, and playing around with my strategy/ testing out the rng... I beat it after maybe 6 or 7 tries. (Not counting the ones where I just tapped auto for the heck of it, and retreated.)
As you can see in one of the following pics, tier 7 went down to Nute and Mace. Both of them having EXTREMELY low health. I had the next turn and Nute one shotted Mace. Tier 7 done.
Imo, Nute was the ABSOLUTE MVP of this event, hands down. He is the difference maker. Between Extortion and Profit, it can cause the flow of the battle to turn in your favor.
My strategy...
At first on that run, I didn’t think I’d make it. It looked good to start but some of my toons started to drop off earlier than expected (notably Dooku and B2). But having Asajj Nute and GG, I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. I used Dooku to keep stunning everyone, B2 to keep spreading buff immunity on the opposing team. Then Dooku goes down. Then B2 goes down. I use GG’s special to take out Padmé. I split my attacks between Jolee Fishdo and Ani. I use Asajj to keep dispelling their buffs. Then she goes down. I use Nute Extortion ability several times. Everyone on the opposing side has it by now. My GG and Nute have Profit. Like two or three stacks each. So much so that GG takes out both Fishdo and Ani with his aoe. Now GG is low health. He takes out GK. Now it’s down to my GG and Nute vs Mace. Mace takes out my GG. I could be panicking, but I’m not. It’s now down to Nute and Mace. I use Extortion yet again, reducing Mace’s health into the very low red. Mace hits Nute. Nute is now into the very low red too. Nute only has his basic left, and I one shot Mace.
I cannot express into words the rush I got after taking Mace down with my humble Nute.
Before this event I think I underestimated him. Now I get how awesome he is.
I just wanna say THANKS to EA/CG for a very fun event. I had a blast.
Padmé was one of the last two event toons I needed. Now that I have her, the only one I need is... Malak. Bring it on! I’ll be ready. I eagerly await his arrival.
