5* Unlock?

Hey, I’m a new player and working on a 5* empire team (palp. Vader. RG. TFP. Tarkin) but my player level is only 75. I’m f2p and won’t get level 80 by the next upcoming event on 10/31. My goal is just to unlock r2 at 5*, can I do that at level 75? What is the min I should gear that team to?

Iirc that wasn't a super hard event. G8 is probably sufficient.
