Question about the Malak fix

So I got Malak this time around. Played it legit to get him. However I had already completed the dark side part of the event last time. After I got him, I played the dark side again just for fun and saw that I got the extra 75 shards. I used that to get him to six stars. In my case will they be rolling my Malak just back to five stars or will I lose him completely? And if I lose him, will I get refunded for the zeta, gear, and currency I've used to level/gear him up so far? Just wondering if anyone knows the answer.

You will have any shards gained from a double dip on the DS of the event removed.

I believe they will refund all the gear and zetas used too, yes.
