It is a bye, it happened when a group is not full with 8 players. Someone gets a free win, and points are awarded at the start of the event and when they log in (the 1k for the win).

There are several posts. Just like there are at the start of every GAC.

If the number of players in a division is not a multiple of 8, then at least 1 bracket has an empty slot. Which means someone gets a bye with a full max banner win immediately.

They get a bonus prize too, which is a baseless accusation of cheating from someone who cares enough to come to the forums, but not enough to do a little research.
