How I Would Have Structured the Galactic Ascension Events

Okay, the Galactic Legends seem pretty cool, I guess. 6 zetas each, plus an Ultimate ability that is sure to turn the tide of any battle, and ‘art’ that makes them stand out from other characters. I am one of the 99% who does not have either of them, of course, but because of what I saw from the events to unlock them, I have no plans to, either. Because when you have to do the same battles over and over again with the punishment of not being able to do it again if you lose, that’s when Capital Games has crossed the line. They make us gear up useless characters that aren’t even needed for the event itself and don’t even capture the actually good parts of the movie. I’ll summarize what I saw here:

Rey:
ANY Resistance character can be used for her event, even though C-3PO, R2-D2, and Veteran Smuggler Han weren’t explicitly required to unlock it.
Tier 1: Face off on Kijimi against a knockoff version of General Hux along with several Snowtroopers who can counterattack even if Dominance isn’t affecting the battlefield. Must be done 8 times to get 10 shards for each successful attempt and costs 15 Light Side tickets a pop.
Tier 2: Face off aboard the Finalizer Star Destroyer against the real General Hux and a few stormtroopers. Pretty much the same exact thing as Tier 1. Must be done 4 times to get 25 shards for each successful attempt and costs 30 Light Side tickets a pop.
Tier 3: A rock-paper-scissors match with Kylo Ren. Some of the graphics were pretty nice, I’ll admit, but this was a completely unoriginal mechanic with no creative thought behind it whatsoever. Must be done 3 times to get 50 shards for each successful attempt and costs 60 Light Side tickets a pop.
Tier 4: After unlocking Galactic Legend Rey and getting her as highly upgraded as possible, face off on the Death Star wreckage, more specifically in the throne room, against Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, who is flanked by First Order Raiders. Only has to be done once to obtain the Heir to the Jedi title on a successful attempt and costs 70 tickets to do.
Tier 5: Same exact thing as Tier 4, except the difficulty is scaled higher. This was a very bad move by Capital Games, as the story should have progressed, even a change in background might have been better, but no, it’s the same battle, copy and pasted with just a little bit more difficulty. Only has to be done once to get Rey’s portrait on a successful attempt and costs 70 tickets to do.
Tier 6: Same exact thing as Tier 5, but the difficulty is scaled to an insanely hard level. What triggers me the most about this is that this event was stalled for 3-4 months and this is what we got out of it. All the excitement, all the hype, just to be met with this garbage event. What’s worse, this hardest battle only awards 1 Ultimate ability material per successful attempt, meaning it has to be done successfully 10 times in order to obtain the full prize. And at the cost of 70 tickets a pop, that’s going to take a very long time.

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren:
ONLY First Order characters are allowed to be used, even though Veteran Smuggler Han and Emperor Palpatine were required to unlock it.
Tier 1: Face off in the forbidden desert of Pasaana against Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8, and C-3PO. Must be done 8 times to get 10 shards for each successful attempt and costs 15 Dark Side tickets a pop.
Tier 2: Face off on Kijimi against Zorii Bliss, a character that should have been introduced to the game along with Jannah for Rise of Skywalker hype, along with Finn, Poe, BB-8, and C-3PO. Must be done 4 times to get 25 shards for each successful attempt and costs 30 Dark Side tickets a pop.
Tier 3: A rock-paper-scissors match with Rey. Must be done 3 times to get 50 shards for each successful attempt and costs 60 Dark Side tickets a pop.
Tier 4: After unlocking Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and getting him as highly upgraded as possible, face off on the Death Star wreckage against Galactic Legend Rey, who is flanked by Resistance Heroes Finn and Poe. Only has to be done once to obtain the Heir Apparent title on a successful attempt and costs 70 tickets to do.
Tier 5: Same exact thing as Tier 4, except the difficulty is scaled higher. Only has to be done once to get Supreme Leader Kylo Ren’s portrait and costs 70 tickets to do.
Tier 6: Same exact thing as Tier 5, but the difficulty is scaled to an insanely hard level. Must be done 10 times to get 1 Ultimate ability material for each successful attempt and costs 70 tickets a pop.

What I just described above was a massive waste of potential on the part of Capital Games. When making this event, they only ever thought about money and didn’t even try to tell the story. The Galactic Ascension events shouldn’t be just horribly designed battles and mediocre rewards hidden behind paywall after paywall. They should be storytelling opportunities to describe the journeys of both characters in new ways, with cutscenes and unique mechanics. That is why I have decided to completely redesign the Galactic Ascension events for both of them in order to detail every step of the journeys of Rey and Kylo Ren, as it should have been. There are two ways I can go about this:

1.) I can design the event exclusively around The Rise of Skywalker, which would prompt a lot more details about the movie itself, OR...
2.) I can design the event around the entire Sequel Trilogy, which would mean more storytelling opportunities around where Rey’s Hero’s Journey Event failed.

I will be going around Option 2 for this. I believe with such a hyped-up event, there should be a greater story to tell than just circling around one movie. In the first several tiers, units that you already have will be used until you have enough shards to unlock the Galactic Legend, then the next few tiers will involve the collection of Ultimate ability materials. Overall, this will be a large event, but it would be everything you’d expect from 4 months of hype.

Improved Rey event:
For this event, 15 tickets are required for Tiers 1-6, 20 tickets for Tier 7, 25 tickets for Tier 8, 30 tickets for Tiers 9-11, 40 tickets for Tier 12-15, 45 tickets for Tiers 16-18, 60 tickets for Tiers 19-20, and 90 tickets for Tier 21, but each Tier only needs to be done once in order to receive all the rewards needed. Rewards for Tiers 1-15 include 22 shards per tier along with crystals, credits, ability materials, important gear pieces, mod salvage, and relic materials. Rewards for Tiers 16-20 include 1 Ultimate ability material per tier plus a large sum of crystals and credits, and rewards for Tier 21 include a Rey portrait, an Heir to the Jedi title, a hefty sum of crystals and credits, and 5 Ultimate ability materials. Once all tiers have been completed, tickets will not be needed to replay any of the tiers.
Tier 1: Poe Dameron is given the map to Luke Skywalker by Lor San Tekka, but when the First Order arrives, they must battle against waves of stormtroopers in order to escape. For this event, Lor San Tekka is used as a knockoff version of Rey (Scavenger) to help Poe and BB-8 against the numerous enemies. (Required units: Poe Dameron and BB-8)
Tier 2: Finn offers Poe a way to escape, to which Poe heartily agrees. However, they must take out a squad of stormtroopers who found out too early what FN-2187 was up to. For this battle, Finn will be dressed as a stormtrooper, with the blood marks along his mask showing who he is. (Required units: Finn and Poe Dameron)
Tier 3: Rey and BB-8 encounter thugs on Jakku who want to take the valuable droid away, and must battle them to get away. At the beginning of this tier, a cutscene plays to show Rey and BB-8 wandering around the market when they are surrounded by thugs, then the battle starts. At the end, they chase down Finn, who was watching. (Required units: Rey (Scavenger) and BB-8)
Tier 4: The Millenium Falcon blasts off, Rey in the cockpit and Finn on the guns. They must fight off First Order TIE Fighters in order to make their getaway. At the beginning of this tier, a cutscene plays showing them getting on the Falcon and blasting off, and at the end, the Falcon dips, allowing Finn to take down the last TIE fighter, then they fly away from Jakku. (Required unit: Rey’s Millenium Falcon)
Tier 5: Veteran Smugglers Han and Chewie team up with Rey, Finn, and BB-8 to take on the Guavian Death Gang and Kanjiklub, but they must also contend with a Rathtar that has been accidentally released. The battle has three parts, the first one involving the Guavians, the second involving Kanjiklub, and the third involving the Rathtar, which will work as a sort of raid boss, similar to the execution beasts found in Geonosis TB. (Required units: Veteran Smuggler Chewie, Veteran Smuggler Han, Rey (Scavenger), Finn, and BB-8)
Tier 6: Rey attempts to flee from Kylo Ren on Takodana, taking down stormtroopers along the way. For this tier, her Basic ability, Shifting Strike, is replaced by Shaky Shot, which deals Physical damage to a target enemy and Stuns them for 1 turn with a 50% chance to grant Rey Foresight for 2 turns, doubled on a Critical Hit. As she is the only unit that can be used for this tier, it may be wise to equip her zeta as well. At the beginning of the tier, a cutscene shows Rey fleeing from Kylo Ren, and First Order stormtroopers appear at each of his sides when the battle starts. At the end of the battle, when Kylo Ren is reduced to 1 Health, a cutscene shows Kylo Ren freezing her and them making her fall asleep. (Required unit: Rey (Scavenger))
Tier 7: Now we come to the tear-jerker we’ve all been wanting and didn’t get from Rey’s Hero’s Journey event: At the beginning of the tier, a cutscene plays showing Han walking up to the bridge and shouting for his son. We hear Han shout ‘BEN!’, and Kylo turns around. For this event, it’s still a battle, so we see text for Kylo saying ‘Han Solo. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.’, then the 1v1 battle between Veteran Smuggler Han and Kylo Ren begins. The zeta for Han might be necessary, as Kylo is good at inflicting debuffs and Han can stack Defense Penetration with his zeta. When Kylo falls below 100% Health, more dialogue will show. Han will tell Kylo to take off the mask, to which Kylo will ask what he thinks he will see if he does, to which Han answers, ‘the face of my son.’ We get the cutscene showing Kylo taking off his mask, and more dialogue in which Kylo tells Han that his son is dead, to which Han tells him that’s what Snoke wants him to believe, to which Kylo denies him again. The battle continues until Kylo Ren, now fighting with his mask off, falls below 50% Health. (Minor note: Han dispels all debuffs on himself and recovers 100% Health and Protection whenever Kylo Ren reaches the threshold that triggers a cutscene, but Kylo gets to take a bonus turn with reset cooldowns at the end of each cutscene.) When this happens, Han will take another step towards Kylo Ren and more dialogue will take place before the last part of the battle. Once Kylo Ren is reduced to 1% Health, the iconic moment where he asks if Han will help him will happen. The cutscene shows them both holding the lightsaber, and a few seconds later, it’s ignited as Kylo stabs him through the chest. Han puts a hand on his son’s cheek, a loving touch before he falls down the oscillator’s abyss. (Required unit: Veteran Smuggler Han)
Tier 8: Rey and Finn are fleeing from Starkiller Base when they encounter Kylo Ren, who tells them that “we’re not done yet.” At the start of the battle, Kylo Ren, who uses the kit of his unmasked version (with a disabled leader ability for the tier), Stuns Rey. The Finn we see in this tier has the same abilities as Finn, but for the battle he wields a lightsaber instead of a blaster. Rey’s Stun will last until Finn is defeated, and Finn must survive long enough for Rey’s ability, Awaken, to finish its cooldown. Kylo Ren will be unable to lose Health until Rey uses that ability. When she does, a cutscene will show Kylo Ren reaching out for the fallen lightsaber when it flies past him into Rey’s hand. Unlike the Hero’s Journey event, however, the battle will not be separated into two tiers. After the cutscene, Rey will retain her same abilities with the exception of her Basic, which will be changed to inflict Healing Immunity for 2 turns on the target enemy. This will be crucial to defeat Kylo Ren. (Required units: Rey (Scavenger) and Finn)
Tier 9: Poe Dameron flies his X-wing to take down the First Order Dreadnought that threatens to destroy the Resistance fleet. To complete this tier, Poe Dameron’s X-wing and the Resistance X-wing will need to destroy three of the Dreadnought’s surface cannons while also contending with several TIE Fighters. The Raddus will also be used for support. The Dreadnought has an Ultimate ability (which starts on cooldown) that can destroy the enemy Capital Ship, and if this happens, the battle is immediately lost. Because the Dreadnought is not a defeatable Capital Ship, the Holdo Maneuver will not be allowed to use for the battle. (Required units: Raddus, Resistance X-wing, and Poe Dameron’s X-wing)
Tier 10: Finn, Rose Tico, and BB-8 make their way to Canto Bight and must defeat several of the police officers that want to put them behind bars. (Required units: Finn, Rose Tico, and BB-8)
Tier 11: Poe starts an insurgency in protest of Amylin Holdo’s command, and must be stopped before he puts the survival of the Resistance itself in jeopardy. For this battle, General Leia is borrowed for a leader ability to help against Poe and his band of insurgents. (Required units: Amylin Holdo, Resistance Trooper, Resistance Pilot, and C-3PO)
Tier 12: Rey and Ben Solo reach out to each other, a connection that established itself during her time on Ach-To, when Luke Skywalker interrupts and destroys her entire hut. Rey will ask him if it’s true that he tried to murder him, to which he will ignore and tell her to leave the island. For this tier, a duel occurs between Rey and Luke, both of them wielding their own lightsaber despite that not being the case in the movie. Here’s my version of the rock-paper-scissors style duel we got from Tier 3 of the official Galactic Ascension event:

Each character begins the battle with 8 points of Health, and they have 3 abilities: Strike, Feint, and Parry. Strike is the attacker ability, which grants the activating character Offense Up for 1 turn, but if it’s used again back-to-back, it also grants Accuracy Up for 1 turn. Feint is the support ability, which allows the activating character to recover 1 point of Health, but if it’s used again back-to-back, it also grants the activating character Foresight for 1 turn. Parry is the tank ability, which grants the activating character Defense Up for 1 turn, but if it’s used again back-to-back, it also grants the activating character Retribution for 1 turn. These abilities can’t be used three times in a row, otherwise it’s a misplay that leaves them Exposed for 1 turn. When both characters have decided on an ability, they clash. A normal clash will deal 1 point of damage. Foresight will allow this to be evaded, Retribution will allow a counterattack to deal an extra point of damage, and Offense Up will allow for 2 points of damage to be dealt. Accuracy Up will counter Foresight, meaning it will not be evaded. The battle will end when one of the characters loses all of their Health points.

At the end of the battle, Luke will trip and fall, stopping himself from crashing to the ground using the Force. Rey will ask him again if he created Kylo Ren, and a cutscene will show of Luke confronting Ben, with Luke’s dialogue showing on screen as it happens. Rey will tell him that he failed by thinking his choice was made and that she saw the good in him. Luke would tell her that this would not go the way she thought, to which Rey would deny him and leave. No required units for this battle, as it is a 1v1 duel, done the right way, I hope.
Tier 13: Rey and Kylo Ren team up after Snoke’s death to defeat the 8 Praetorian guards left in the room. For this battle, Kylo Ren will have the Resistance tag so that he can receive the benefits of Rey’s abilities. (Required units: Rey (Jedi Training) and Kylo Ren (Unmasked))
Tier 14: Finn, Rose, and BB-8 battle Captain Phasma along with several stormtroopers and a few executioners in the fiery remains of Snoke’s Supremacy hangar bay. For this battle, Finn will wield a First Order stun baton instead of a blaster but keep all of his abilities intact. (Required units: Finn, Rose Tico, and BB-8)
Tier 15: On the mineral planet Crait, the Resistance is backed into a corner as the First Order’s merciless pursuit pushes through their protective door. However, Luke Skywalker has emerged from the base and is willing to sacrifice himself to allow the others to escape. This battle is a 1v1 duel between the newly proclaimed Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and the Force apparition of Luke Skywalker involving the same style of duel used in Tier 12. No units will be required for this battle, as Luke Skywalker is a borrowed unit.

When all of these tiers have been completed once, you will have collected enough shards of Galactic Legend Rey to activate her. And yes, I realize 15 tiers is a lot, but now is the time where we get into the Rise of Skywalker content. And boy, is this the cinematic adventure indeed!

Tier 16: In the forbidden desert of Pasaana, fight against waves of stormtroopers including Jet Troopers with the unique ability to fly (seriously amusing that these guys didn’t know that flying troopers were a thing already). Flying enemies will have evasion on their side, as certain characters will be unable to reach them. (Required units: Rey, Resistance Hero Finn, Resistance Hero Poe, BB-8, and C-3PO)
Tier 17: In the snowy town of Kijimi, team up with Zorii Bliss to fight off waves of stormtroopers while C-3PO is processed by Babu Frik in order to interpret the Sith dagger. The stormtroopers will continue to be summoned and will not stop until Zorii Bliss uses her ability, Done Job, which starts on cooldown. Once she uses this ability, C-3PO will finish interpreting the dagger so that you can get out of there. Zorii Bliss is a borrowed character, and must be protected until she can use the ability to end the battle. If she dies, it’s the end of the road for you. (Required units: Rey, Resistance Hero Poe, Resistance Hero Finn, and BB-8)
Tier 18: On board the Finalizer, rescue Chewie from the First Order’s clutches and fight against General Hux and his stormtroopers. In the first wave of this battle, Rey will lead the two Resistance heroes against a wave of stormtroopers. In the second wave, she won’t be there, but her Leader ability will be able to help the two Resistance heroes and Chewbacca against another wave of stormtroopers, this one led by General Hux. In the last wave, Rey will again not be there, and her Leader ability will help the Resistance Heroes and Chewbacca to defeat the last wave of stormtroopers, but now, General Hux will help you in this fight. Surprise! For this battle, General Hux’s kit will be altered slightly to make him a Light Side character and have his abilities benefit Resistance allies instead of First Order allies. (Required units: Rey, Resistance Hero Poe, Resistance Hero Finn, Veteran Smuggler Chewbacca, and General Hux)
Tier 19: Rey faces off against Kylo Ren in a 1v1 duel, the scene interchanging between Kylo Ren’s personal storage area and the streets of Kijimi. This duel involves the mechanics I described in Tier 12, and will not require any units, as the duel character is borrowed.
Tier 20: On the wreckage of the Death Star, Rey fights her inner dark side, and then encounters Kylo Ren. These battles will be 1v1s, but not in the style from Tier 12. The first battle will be against Rey’s evil twin (or as I like to call her, Empress Palpatine). The second battle will be in the throne room against Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, who’s only alteration will be that he is not wearing his mask. The third battle will also be against Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, except it will take place out on the actual wreckage rather than in the throne room. (Required unit: Rey)

And now...the moment you’ve been waiting for...

Tier 21: Rey travels to Exegol through Kylo Ren’s wayfinder and discover’s Palpatine’s hidden lair. In this epic confrontation style of a battle, Rey and Ben Solo will face off against Palpatine and his Elite Sith Troopers. That’s right, Ben Solo. He will retain the same abilities as Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, but his appearance and affiliation have changed to reflect his turn to the light side, and his abilities have changed to benefit Rey as a Light Side character. This final battle will be the only instance where two Galactic Legends can be on the same team, but Ben Solo is a borrowed character, and so Supreme Leader Kylo Ren will not be required for this tier. At the start of the battle, Palpatine can’t be targeted or take a turn, and the Elite Sith Troopers must be taken down first. Once the troopers have been taken down, Palpatine will drain energy from the Force Dyad and regain his strength, allowing him to unleash torrents of Force lightning and even be able to fight with a lightsaber to an extent. While drained, Rey will not be able to stand, so Ben Solo will be dueling with Palpatine to deter him from her. Once Ben is defeated, Rey will be able to take her first turn since being drained, but only able to use an ability called Be With Me. When used, it summons a random Jedi ally to fight by her side and weaken Palpatine. When she has used it eleven times, to which eleven Jedi will be summoned to the fight, she will finally rise. Then, she will gain her Ultimate ability, which will charge up as the battle progresses, and the battle will be won once the Ultimate ability is used. And I think you know who all the Jedi that come to aid her are: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Luminara Unduli, Aayla Secura, Adi Gallia, Ahsoka Tano, and Kanan Jarrus. Each character will be able to use their in-game abilities (Adi Gallia will use Jolee Bindo’s kit, Obi-Wan will use Old Ben’s kit, Yoda will use Hermit Yoda’s kit, Anakin will use Jedi Knight Anakin’s kit, Ahsoka will use Fulcrum’s kit, and Luke will use Commander Luke Skywalker’s kit) and beat up Palpatine for a bit, which will be very satisfying. However, he can only be defeated by Rey’s Ultimate ability, which charges up at the start of every character’s turn. If Rey is defeated before she can use her Ultimate, the battle is lost. (Required unit: Rey)

Improved Kylo Ren event:
For this event, 15 tickets are required for Tiers 1-5, 20 tickets for Tiers 6-7, 30 tickets for Tiers 8-9, 40 tickets for Tiers 10-12, 45 tickets for Tiers 13-16, and 60 tickets for Tiers 17-18, but each Tier only needs to be done once in order to receive full rewards from it. Rewards for Tiers 1-10 include 25 shards per Tier along with crystals, credits, ability materials, important gear, mod salvage, and relic materials. Same goes for Tiers 11-12, except they reward 40 shards each instead. Tiers 13-16 reward 1 Ultimate ability material per tier plus a large sum of crystals and credits. Tier 17 awards 3 Ultimate ability materials and the Supreme Leader Kylo Ren portrait along with a large sum of crystals and credits, and Tier 18 awards 3 Ultimate ability materials and the Heir Apparent title along with a large sum of crystals and credits. Once all tiers have been completed, tickets will not be needed in order to replay any of the tiers.
Tier 1: Kylo Ren invades a village on the desert planet of Jakku in search of the map to Luke Skywalker. With Captain Phasma and a full team of First Order stormtroopers on his side, it shouldn’t be too hard to kill this old man trying to hide it from him, right? For this battle, Finn will be used, and his appearance and abilities will be altered for him to resemble a stormtrooper and to benefit First Order allies rather than Resistance allies. (Required units: Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, First Order Stormtrooper, Finn)
Tier 2: After probing the mind of Resistance ace Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren sends troops back to Jakku to retrieve the droid that made off with the map to Skywalker. The finest First Order agents should be enough to find and capture that droid. At least, that’s what he thinks. Use the First Order troopers to capture the droid and dispatch anyone aiding it. (Required units: First Order Stormtrooper, First Order Officer, First Order TIE Pilot, First Order SF TIE Pilot)
Tier 3: On Takodana, Kylo Ren hunts the girl he’d heard so much about, the one who helped the droid escape with the map to Skywalker. But since she’s seen it, she might be of more use to him than the droid... For this battle, which will be a 1v1, Kylo will have to fight Rey until he can use his ability, Freeze, which starts on cooldown. Once he Freezes Rey, he can capture her easily. (Required unit: Kylo Ren)
Tier 4: Before leaving Takodana with his prize, Kylo Ren decides he needs to teach the Resistance a lesson on why they shouldn’t meddle in First Order affairs. Readying his shuttle, he calls two TIE Fighters to assist him in the destruction of several X-wings, with the Finalizer at his disposal as well. (Required units: Finalizer, Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle, First Order TIE Fighter, First Order SF TIE Fighter)
Tier 5: Captain Phasma discovers Finn and other Resistance scum on Starkiller Base, and will not go down without a fight. Ready your First Order troops and make FN-2187 pay for his offense to the First Order. (Required units: Captain Phasma, First Order Officer, First Order Stormtrooper, First Order TIE Pilot, First Order SF TIE Pilot)
Tier 6: Kylo Ren encounters his father in the thermal oscillator of Starkiller Base. He’s waited a long time for this day, and he’s ready to let him have it. But the more the battle progresses, the weaker he becomes...and the more he wants to give in to the call to the light. (Required unit: Kylo Ren)
Tier 7: After seeing Rey and Finn flee from him following the murder of his father and the destruction of the thermal oscillator, Kylo Ren decided that he’d had enough. He wasn’t done with them yet, and he wouldn’t be until they were dead, both the traitor and the scavenger nobody. (Required unit: Kylo Ren (Unmasked))
Tier 8: Following his humiliating defeat at the hands of Rey, Kylo Ren has disappointed Supreme Leader Snoke and seeks to regain his favor. With the Resistance fleeing from them, he decides to take a squad of TIE Fighters and destroy their Capital Ship. There are only a few Resistance ships in his way. (Required units: Finalizer, TIE Silencer, First Order TIE Fighter, First Order SF TIE Fighter)
Tier 9: After successfully blowing up the bridge of the enemy’s Capital Ship, Kylo Ren came back to the fleet and was in the process of sewing up his wound when he felt a connection bridge itself between himself and...Rey? This was definitely getting weird, and though he was curious, he also saw an opportunity to kill his true enemy. (Required unit: Kylo Ren (Unmasked))
Tier 10: With Rey’s help, Kylo was able to kill his true enemy, Snoke. Now, he must contend with all the Praetorian Guards who went into a frenzy over this development. For this battle, Rey will have the First Order tag so that she can gain benefits from Kylo Ren’s abilities. (Required units: Kylo Ren (Unmasked) and Rey (Jedi Training))
Tier 11: Captain Phasma has captured Finn and Rose and now must deal with them. With her executioner being able to do most of the work, it should be easy to make this hurt. (Required units: Captain Phasma, First Order Executioner, First Order Stormtrooper, First Order Officer, First Order TIE Pilot)
Tier 12: Proclaiming himself Supreme Leader, Kylo Ren accompanied an invasion force to the mineral planet Crait, where the Resistance hid themselves in a corner. However, before he could advance too far, who should emerge from the base but his uncle, Luke Skywalker himself? Despite the barrage of AT-AT fire he sent his way, Luke managed to brush it off without a scratch. It was clear that only a 1v1 confrontation could get him out of the way. This is a 1v1 duel with the same mechanics described in Tier 12 of Rey’s event. No units required for this one.

At this point, you will have enough shards of Supreme Leader Kylo Ren to activate him. This is where the fun begins. After all, there’s quite a bit of good Rise of Skywalker content here. But the finale is what really makes this stand out!

Tier 13: Kylo Ren made his way to Mustafar looking for a Sith Wayfinder, which would lead him to the lair of the late Emperor Palpatine. On Mustafar, he would have to contend with some of the natives who would stand in his way. (Required unit: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren)
Tier 14: Kylo Ren struck a deal with Palpatine for unlimited power, and now must hunt down and kill Rey. Because of his bridged connection with her, he is able to learn quickly that she and her friends travelled to Pasaana. He takes with him a squad of stormtroopers to help capture the Resistance heroes. He knows Rey’s true heritage now, and wishes to see for himself if what he was told is true... In this battle, Rey cannot fall below 25% Health until her other allies are defeated. Once they are, and once she is reduced to 1 Health, a cutscene will play showing Kylo and Rey both pulling at a First Order transport, and after several seconds of frustration, she will accidentally shoot Force lightning and destroy it. (Required units: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, any 4 First Order characters)
Tier 15: After learning that Rey travelled to Kijimi, Kylo Ren travelled there in search of her. He had no luck in finding her until the connection bridged once more, allowing him to see her and even duel with her. This is a 1v1 duel with the same mechanics as Tier 12 of Rey’s event, with borrowed duel units.
Tier 16: Kylo Ren once again found Rey on the wreckage of the Death Star. She had found another Wayfinder, but he smashed it to bits, telling her that the only way she was getting to Exegol was with him. Rey denied him, however, and so a 1v1 battle would have to take place, first in the throne room, then out where the waves crashed the most. (Required unit: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren)

And now we get to the part that I am super hyped about. Even though I like Light Side endings, there was no way I would be able to get away with this being the same exact thing as Rey’s. This had to be a definitely non-canon twist that would end the Skywalker Saga in the opposite direction: the Dark Side way.

Tier 17: After convincing Rey that a Palpatine was what she was and what she would always be, she joined him on the dark side and, after a change of clothes and in lightsaber, travelled with him to Exegol so that they would be able to take down Palpatine together. First, Kylo Ren would destroy the Knights of Ren, who were more loyal to Palpatine than they were to him. (Required unit: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren)
Tier 18: Once the Knights of Ren were dealt with, Empress Palpatine joined Supreme Leader Kylo Ren in Emperor Palpatine’s throne room. There, they both raised their sabers against the decaying Sith, Kylo with his crossguard and Rey with her double-bladed red foldable saberstaff. In this battle, Empress Palpatine (or, as we would know her, Dark Rey) utilizes the same kit as Galactic Legend Rey, except she counts as a Dark Side unit in order to benefit from Kylo Ren’s abilities. At the start of the battle, Palpatine can’t be targeted or take a turn, and his elite Sith Troopers must be defeated first. Once they’re defeated, Palpatine will drain energy from the Force Dyad and regain his strength, becoming able to unleash torrents of Force lightning and even wield a lightsaber to an extent. Kylo Ren will be unable to stand while he is drained, and so Empress Rey must fight Palpatine until Kylo can regain his strength. Once Rey is defeated, Kylo will be able to take his first turn since being drained, but he can only use an ability called Too Far Gone. When used, It summons a random Sith ally to fight by his side and weaken Palpatine. Now, this might be a bit weird at first, but there are definitely a few Sith on this list with a grudge against Palpatine. Others are just very powerful Sith Lords who dismiss Palpatine as a joke. But I think it’s a great parallel nonetheless: Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Savage Oppress, Asajj Ventress (yes, I know she doesn’t have the Sith tag, but she might as well have it), Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Darth Nihilus, Darth Sion, Darth Traya, and Fallen Bastila. Once Too Far Gone has been used 11 times, Kylo Ren will be able to rise. Then, he will gain his Ultimate ability, which will charge up as the battle progresses, and once all the Sith have gotten their kicks on Palpatine, Kylo Ren will be able to finish him off with his Ultimate ability, which is the only thing that can kill him. If Kylo Ren dies before he can use his Ultimate ability, the battle is lost. (Required unit: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren)

And there we have it. Perfectly lined up with every movie in the Sequel Trilogy, succeeding where Rey’s Hero’s Journey failed, and creating a surprise alternative ending with Kylo Ren’s control over the galaxy. This would have been a much better way to do the Galactic Ascension events, in my opinion. Yes, the requirements might have been a little bit more hefty, but this would have been a small price to pay for salvation in comparison to the events we got. I can only hope that Capital Games does not make the same mistake again. As a matter of fact, when I eventually release my rendition of the kits for Jedi Master Obi-Wan and Knightfall Anakin, the prequel-era Galactic Legends, I will also detail how the events will play out so that Capital Games can use it as a blueprint. If they ever look at fan-made stuff like this, anyway.

  • Doep idea, to bad CG doesn't care. Id vote for it though.
  • Real shame. I spent one whole night and got better ideas for the event structure than Capital Games ever will. I do hope they learn their lesson before their next Galactic Ascension event releases.

Cool ideas, but you don’t see casinos reinventing the game of black jack to make more money. They (and CG as well) have realized that more money can be made through minimal design time and maximizing marketing and artwork (although the artwork here is questionable).

I sure do miss fun events like malak and GAS!
Maybe End Game isn't for you
  • It appears Wave 2 of Galactic Legends is on the way, with Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Sith Eternal Emperor looking pretty promising. I do hope Capital Games has learned their lesson this time around.
