How To Level up past lvl 40?

I’m level 43 and do the daily challenges everyday but it’s taking a day per level is there any other methods to level up faster for free? I’d rather not spend anymore money

You get exp for every point of energy you burn. The more energy refreshes you buy (with crystals) the more energy you can burn.

Is there a method you can earn crystal fairly quickly? I’m genuinely hooked on the game at the moment but my attention span is short so I don’t want to find myself getting bored

1) Spend money
2) Finish at the top of arena (and ship arena when you unlock) daily.

That's pretty much it.
