Server Merge?

Past couple days I've been losing much more rank than normal. I chalked this up to my server maturing and becoming more competitive, which is fine.
But I also noticed lots of new names in my Top 50 and a ton of accounts with Japanese and Korean characters. Lots of other players have also shared similar stories. I'm not necessarily mad at this, but I'm confused. I recall reading that server merges were not planned for the near future. Is this happening or is this just my confirmation bias talking? Thanks
