Thoughts on Reddit...........

So many of us have great suggestions on how to improve the game and for the most part, it falls upon deaf ears. Seeing as the Devs seem to like to hang out over at Reddit and ironically, stay clear of the official forum, I feel most, if not all of us should also post over on Reddit, especially when where having issues, polls, basically mirroring the content we have here over there.

I hate the feeling that we're being ignored. Maybe if we take the arguments we have here and bring them to Reddit, the Devs will be forced to either.....
  • Respond to them
  • Avoid us as they've done here and just get off Reddit and the forums totally and get to work.

Ideas???? Comments????

Agreed. If you need clarification about an ability or to report a bug, do it on Reddit.
  • Devs shouldn't listen to players anyway, they are the guys that have access to all the statistics and an employment history of acquiring skills to create content. the only time you need a players opinion is when they encounter a bug that sliped bast QA.

And yet they still stuff things up even though they seem so perfect.

Community responses have lead to massive meta changes like the upcoming one. If there were more devs here on the OFFICIAL forum then maybe they would get more things done that we, the players want.

Wishful thinking, devs can see the numbers on who has what and how the whole player base behaves without having to listen to a thousand mutually exclusive suggestions and if one thing is good for the bottom line it's change. the community claiming responsibility for said change is like claiming responsibility for the tide coming in.

As a business, it's generally considered good practice to listen to your customers. You tend to stay in business and make more money that way. The SWG devs didn't listen to the players and went ahead with the NGE. That didn't turn out so well for them.

It may be a coincidence, but that doesn't matter.

Devs buffed Ahsoka due to a poll made by a guild mate of mine.

Devs have stated that faction synergies should mean more and how they are planning on seeing to that in a poll of mine.

If the devs aren't taking on advice then it sure seems like they are.

Doing the whole social media thing can be a HUGE time sink. You need employed dedicated ppl who do that only and then relay trends in discussions and reported problems to the devs.

By contrast, the impression I have of Reddit is that many devs are there in their spare time, during downtime etc. Which means the contact is much more direct, but also more sporadic. The main reason why it's easier to get quick replies on Reddit would be that the people reading there possess first-hand knowledge and don't have to relay every question at the next weekly (?) staff meeting.

In my experience, you need to make a preemptive decision: We are going to spend THIS many work hours on social media. Because otherwise, you end up spending all the hours. The more you are present, the more people try to interact and bring their things to the table. With millions of users, you simply have to have a strict strategy in place.
  • They were literally hiring a game balance specialist the other day as an entry level position.

How the **** is that entry-level and how do you not have one yet.

@Nonemo I don't think ioniancat is asking for a massive change in the way communication takes place, simply where it takes place. If the Reddit Devs spent some time here instead, or the devs were split between here and there then he would be a lot happier.

It may be something they do in their spare time, but if they do so with a CG/EA name badge on then the company is responsible for their actions.

Obviously we don't want them to stop, just simply to pop in here just as much, or more than they do over in reddit.
Although personally I hate reddit and I think they should only ever post here.

  • They should post here, the fact that it's a meme whenever they do post here is a joke.
They definitely respect the reddit community more than the official users/moderators over here.

Actually, those are related. It's the hamsters. They're the ones doing the chemreails. Enclosed: photo evidence.

  • Thank you for commenting everyone. Just to clarify, I wouldn't want people creating unique content for Reddit. Instead, I'm thinking more simplistic, such as just copy and paste mirroring of posts that contain good ideas, suggestions, rants, etc. We'd filter the best of the best and copy them over to there.

***I need to look into if there is a script or automated task I can create where every time I post on the EA forum, a duplicate post gets created for Reddit automatically. The only downside is that with my skillset, I could probably only get this to work on Windows, so if I can create it and give it away to you all, the scope of "who could use it" would be limited, although Windows is the largest platform in the world.....

Are you kidding me??? Why do this??? I thought I had a great idea. Burying this in the feedback section is just like telling me to go away.

Oh well, looks like I need to create that script, maybe post it on Reddit and a link to it in our forum. If I get stopped out that way, I'll host it through line, maybe even throw up a free web page just to distribute it freely to members. I'll find a way, I hate feeling silenced....
  • @cosmicturtle333 @InternetSwag Thanks for posting those comments!!! I wouldn't have noticed until later that they moved my post. It's good you guys speak out, I won't forget it......

You can't compare the 2 industries like that. After a film is released, they aren't going to go back and make changes. Oh wait, George Lucas already did that, so I guess they do! But, it's not common practice. In a constantly evolving game, you want to do what's best for the game itself, so that people enjoy playing it, and the company is making money. making changes to please the majority is why WoW is still making millions every day, even though it sucks (in my opinion). While it may have driven off some players, it brought in many others. The devs don't care if I play or not, if they can get 2 more people paying for every 1 that leaves, it's a good move for them.
  • I think actually, for every two that leave, only one is returning currently....
  • I don't post on reddit but also check it for developpers comments.

As this is the official forum, is linked and advertised to the game I would love to read more from the devs here. This can be a good way to prevent missunderstandings.

But I also feel that reddit had a little bit less aggressive users, when things like the us/canada only promotion with advertisments outside tnose countries happen. It is strange to only read a comment there but not here.

I'd have to disagree. No disrespect but the devs haven't listened to either post. Fortitide/shields/armour have been around in many games pre this. It was necessary to implement because the maths in this game are all wrong - allowing 15k crit in the right circumstances, which is more than the maximum health of over half the characters is just dumb. I'm aware of the ahsoka post you mentioned - that was literally about 2 weeks before the buff and there had been absolutely loads of 'buff ahsoka' posts prior to that and based on the speed the devs work I would assume it was in the pipeline long before.

Onto the main point It's ridiculous to NOT to have the majority of content discussed on the official forum. Everything should be here first and also there should be more of a presence from EA support team and devs. Having everyone duplicate posts isn't practical. EA should see this as a problem and work to resolve it by dissolving one of these forums.

  • I am posting this as a member of the community on the forums:

One of the producers stated multiple times that they DO read the forums and pay a lot of attention to suggestions, so they do know what's happening on here even though they don't participate in the discussion that often. Whether these suggestions will be implemented in the game is another question. I thought Ahsoka'so changes was a pretty good example of that.

Majority of the content are being discussed on here. Weekly community update, official patch nones, are all core information that reddit don't get. (Well, until someone post the link there of course)

I, too, would like to have more communication from the developers on these forums, but we as a community have to provide a healthy environment for them to process all the information.

There are so many great analysis of game mechanics, characters, and strategy posted on here daily only to be replaced by numerous rants/complains/troll posts on topics with multiple existing threads already. I am not saying it's not ok to complain when you got abandoned by RNGsus in pvp, or you dropped tons of crystals on packs and didn't get the character you wanted. But chances are there are already posts of similar nature from another user. If not, cool, go ahead and start a thread.

And this leads to something else, we as a community need to pick and choose which conversation we larticipate in. Add to the ones that are productive with data and in-depth analysis and not so much to those posts where the OP is just blowing off some steam. Although I don't know anyone on the depth team but I'm sure they are much likely to respond to a page full of productive conversationso rather than read through a pages of ranting and complains to find something valuable to add to the game.

    Hey there,

You are definitely a passionate player and we appreciate all of your feedback. :)

I haven't read your latest thread but will soon.

    Thanks,
    Jesse

So, like I said, the devs definitely do use our feedback to affect the game.
