I’m assuming this is the Sith Raid. Does Nihilus’ protection count for damage from the characters but (obviously) not for score damage to Nihilus? I’m not sure.

Any attacks against Nihilus's purple protection are credited to characters, but not the overall score. Only damage to his green health bar counts for the final result.

Attacking with a basic ability whilst having defense down will cause that protection to grow. Any team that uses a lot of assists or counter attacks, such as Commander Luke Skywalker lead Rebels perform poorly in this phase for this reason.

CLS, Chewpio, R2, Threepio and Han have been getting an easy 15-18m in phase 1 for me though. The cleanse on Crit from R2 shifts the defence down, and Chewpio just goes mental with damage.
