Non-Accelerated Characters Shards Farming: Refreshes or Shipments ?

I've been farming Admiral Piett (he's 3/100 now) not only to get a decent Imp Trooper squad for Rebel Roundup and Forest Moon ABs, but also for SEE. My farming strategy so far has been 10 battles a day (sometimes 15) + buying shards from Shipments, mostly in quantities of 8 or 16. Still, I feel like I could've promoted him to 7* much sooner if I'd done it differently.
Would it be better to refresh more and buy from Shipments less or is my current strategy okay ? I get Top 20 in SA and 1st in FA reliably and can solo HSTR with SLKR.

Yes, that is the documented drop rate on all shards, according to players who have put the work in.
Done so. 275 crystals for 5 node refreshes (1 free daily + 4 actual refreshes) + 250 crystals for 480 Energy should net me an average of 13 Piett shards each day for 525 crystals total. Are my calculations correct ? If they are, I'll stick to refreshing nodes.
13 shards on average from every 25 attempts? Doesn't seem right.
The 25 and 50 crystals refreshes (including 50 crystal energy refreshes) are cheaper than buying shards in the store. A 100 crystal refresh (including a 50 crystals energy refresh) is slightly more expensive.
Depends how many refreshes. There is a break point where shipments become the better value.
Oops, sorry, my mistake. It's supposed to be an 8 shards average per day, right ?
