So if GAS is sitting and hasnt recovered any protection (cover) and the clones kill you, when you fight Gas again he's standing but he has more than the 10% protection he's supposed to recover after that first turn. I Does this happen to other people too?

GAS gains max 15% protection for each 501ally. His new max protection value (that 10% from last time) gets the stacked 15% bonuses.

It's a similar scenario to solo GLs starting with more protection than with what amount the previous battle ended, because their GL unique kicks in on the new max value.
