New gear - why not just add it?

So, why gate the new gear behind a month wait and guild content? There will be a reasonable section of your player base that doesn't want anything to do with guilds, and capping those players forever at gear level 9 feels pretty bad. Guilds should provide bonus loot for those that want to participate, but not an exclusive on it.

A side effect of just adding the gear to standard missions is you also address the largest precraft complaints.

Because they want you to "enjoy" the new content they will give you in about a month.

I mean hey, I'm all for the update and adding raids and guilds, and I might feel like doing the guild thing... but I might not feel like doing the guild thing.

Instead of gating gear progression entirely to guilds, seems like making guilds a bonus source of gear and credits would still make them highly desirable without completely stopping progress for non-guild players. Simply adding the gear to regular play fixes the fractured player base caused by precraftgate. And it gives us something new to farm now while we wait for the cool new update stuff.
  • See after you hit 80, they then want you to spend money on gear and ability upgrades.

I want to gear my characters now. 50 new purple piece I can't farm is horse poop.
  • Not sure how to feel about this. Love the idea of a raid. Gated gear caused lots of issues with the Destiny community, almost killing it. Hopefully, this will be a better presentation.

It would have been pretty easy to put in a 10% drop rate at the end of level 8 for each of these gears. It would give people the option of spending 5000 energy to get before the challange but for 1 or 2 key characters the arena bonus might pay for itself.

Once the challange is in place no one would farm those anyways as they can get them elsewhere.

Not joining a guild would be like not joining a clan in clash... It's very hard to get the achievements and upgrade your level. Why would u not join guilds here
  • Guilds will be the down fall of this game. I send enough time just to play it each day not to mention on Sunday. I do not to have to interact with others and join groups. The game has been fine just being solo with the limited number of ally spots.

If people find they are spending too much time with the game, they can simply opt out of using a guild (assuming there is that option). I wouldn't say it would be the downfall of the game.

Well, that's the idea. An option to opt out of guilds without opting out of the entire last third of character gear progression. As long as guilds are an advantage for gearing but not a necessity you have the option.

    Options are good.
