Isn't the point of a game, by definition, to have fun?

Like 80% of this board should not be playing this game if that is the definition.

Only when you are 7 and you don't keep score. The idea of games is usually to win. I'm sure the panthers weren't crying at the end of the super bowl because people they didn't have fun.

This is not a game. It is a casino, with Star Wars skin and no money to win. You think gambling addicts are having fun losing all their money in a casino? Heck no they ain't, but they are still there.

Oh, sweet summer child. You know nothing of the horrors of ranks and tournaments, when the salt lay a hundred feet deep and whale and plankton alike PvP'd to death in their homes...

This is not a game; this is a farm. You use your harvests to attack others' harvests, then earn fertilizers to farm more. Isn't it fun?

Nope. Doesn't say fun in its definition
  • Yes. Unfortunately some people thrive on negitivity and complaining. :|
  • Like 80% of this board should not be playing this game if that is the definition.

Like these SAME people complain on other games as well. The same applies when people insist that because THEY cannot afford\receive\benefit or otherwise gain access.. OTHER people should not have it. This is human nature, people are jealous if THEY can't win ALL the time they are not satisfied, I agree these people simply should STOP playing, they are missing the ENTIRE point of entertainment!

We just vote them off the island, and move on. Nothing new to see here, this is the same complaint on EVERY forum.

Whiners never win, winners never whine.
  • Some people actually have fun when they are complaining... That's our human nature. Some enjoy being angry too.

No some people feel better about themselves but I seriously doubt its fun.. they just feel the need to be cathartic.

  • Fun is the goal for sure.

The 72 challenge buff on the tanks has been fun. I used to auto it, but now the way AI plays vs Mace he can 1hko your team. I love having to play him again. Poor Mace dies without moving when I do.

Collecting is fun. There are days I just look and say. i have a galactic army of cool.

GW. I love how tough it is since they changed the matchmaking, though recently like every 3 days I get an easy 1st 4, but last night facing off vs all 7*(but Rey at 6) lvl 72 att node 1 was a real fun treat. I've come to love the retreat, not as a free pass, but to learn new approaches. I'll get to a win point, retreat and go a different route to see if I can find better strat and kill order for builds, and test. So much fun.

I will tell you I am on the moon about guilds. It is not rabbit or duck season Mr Fudd it is RANCOR season!!!!

The "forum complainer" is not unique to this game. I've played another 5 larger titles that I bothered to get involved with via their official forums, it's always been the same.

I wonder if there is a correlation between certain personalities and people who use forums, where those who use are more inclined to complaining or passive-aggressiveness. That's an interesting research project to take on.

Agree with the OP, there are a lot of people who say "this isn't fun anymore" or "you devs need to fix this or else" as if anyone cares. It is surprising.

This game rules. It's gambling, it's Star Wars, it's slots, it's VERY fun.
    Love it.

  • I'm having fun. The grind gets old sometimes, but I've seen worse. If this ceases to be fun, I will move along to something else without airing my grievances here. EA doesn't owe me anything and neither do I to them.
  • I can only say you haven't heard crying until you play MMO titles that allow griefing. Personally know one person during Star Wars Galaxies that had a myocardial infarction over a "kill steal".

This is the first game of this nature I have played in a few years. I play the real MMO most of the time.....life. I love life and the rewards of hard work from it. Had to leave the USA (personal rant) to truly enjoy life because of all the haters.

No real complaints so far on this game but I am f2p. If I am still playing daily in a few more weeks I will drop a few Ben franklins on it and power level

    Cheers

I have my Boba 6 stars and he needs 270 purple mats. Not 50, not 100, but 270!!
I average 8 per day, wasting all my energy + 2 refills on that. That's 33 days of non stop sim the same mission and wasting max energy, just to get 1 hero to gear IX. Or better, i wish it was 33 days, because actually 100 pieces of gear are unavailable in game atm.
And to add on top of that, boba fett isn't even close to mediocre. He is slow, like EXTREMELY slow, has low hp, and hits like Bariss.
Now please tell me again, why i should be happy about it and never complain. Especially after seeing those Ahsoka mega complaint threads, that actually urged devs to buff her.
Seriously...Am i wrong for complaining about this? Should i be happy to log everyday, sim non stop gear, for 1 month, for a hero that i love in Star Wars, but that will bring me loses in arena?

I was having fun until they raised the cap again and every team has Dooku leading them. Amazing how many people were saying how he wasn't overpowered....yet they all have him now.

While "normal" people can and should have game definition to have fun /enjoyment, not everyone fits the "normal" mode. While I try to use it as entertainment as well, the first and foremost use of gaming for me is pain relief. I have severe chronic pain from nerve damage from a motorbike accident 10 years ago, and now that our 2 kids are in kindergarten and primary school, I always need to keep my attention on something, and if I'm home alone like now, gaming is it.

If I just chill out on the couch, my attention soon turns to the burning feeling in my shoulder and arm from the nerve damage, which in turn exacerbates the pain which can make a constant soreness /fire feeling to indescribable huge pain, so must keep mind occupied or else trip to hospital for pain relief may be on the cards.

While it somewhat doesn't relate to the OP regarding people being complainers, there may be underlying reasons why people don't seem to flat out be playing this game as side entertainment in life, there's injuries, mental or physical illness or whatever could be (part) reason why someone doesn't behave in your view of a similar activity like playing a game and/or associated web forums. :)

I usually try not to be a complainer but pain and drug use for pain relief can unconsciously make me more emotional when posting at times, not that I consciously want to sook about something and drag people down, it may just happen!
  • can i whine for a second?
    :)

gw is much too hard. maybe there are tricks to get through it, but gosh, on top of life, i just don't have time. i just want a quick game to relax. getting paired with a team who ridiculously overpowers you is no fun. please , please, please can you dial it down a lot?

life makes me ever so sad. for a while the game was nice, but now that I'm getting mangled daily, i just want it all to end. just everything. <sigh>

Please, GW is not that hard. I've only been playing for 4 weeks as f2p and am finishing GW daily now with minimal casualties. Either you just started, or you have gravely mismanaged your roster of heroes.

I understand how this becomes a major disappointment, and frustrates one's sense of 'fun', but part of the fun is the challenge of overcoming the obstacles. If you just want to effortlessly smash everything then go to a level 1 Light/Dark battle and one-shot everybody to your heart's content.

I was also frustrated and angry at first when I was confronted with way over-powered teams in GW, but I also knew that my team was immature and under-developed, and in time it would get easier, which it did.

If anything these games should instill patience, and the ability to see challenges as opportunities to develop our abilities, which is the Jedi way - not sources of frustration and anger, which is the Sith way.
