The material is one the new calibration feature. If it was for revenue only, the mod update would have been calibration only. The rest does not generate revenue in any way

Well, one might argue that improved experiences can be conducive to more spending - just like how crashes tend to work the opposite way. That's the motivation for most QoL updates that don't directly generate revenue.

Basically if the forums had their way the game would be stuck in launch form because everything since then has been a money grab.
