Can’t auto since the update

Since the most recent update, when I try to auto battles, like for grinding Conquest bonus nodes or arena battles, my iOS device wants to go into standby mode which pauses the game and pauses the auto-running battle. This never used to be the case. Anyone else experiencing this or am I just overlooking something?
