Changing Apple IDs

So I have been sharing an Apple ID with everyone else in my house, and every time they update to the new OS they get my iMessages on their devices. Therefore, I wish to change the Apple ID associated with my iPhone. My problem is that I am unsure if my progress will be lost in game when I switch Apple IDs. I know everyone says that the progress is tied to your GameCenter account but I just wanted to make sure I can still access that GameCenter account with my new Apple ID. Basically I am just looking for some reassurance. Any help is appreciated!

Should be able to work fine as long as you log in to the same game center, ive done this with clash of clans back when i used to play

Thanks! I was just planning on using the new ID for iMessage but I just wanted to make sure I did not lose all my progress from the last 4+ months.
