And what do I earn?
Assault battles all follow a similar pattern, several different tiers with increasing entry requirements/recommendations. Each tier has 8 waves you need to beat to get the rewards. The rewards are different for each tier and you can do each tier once every time the event comes around. Generally the first few tiers give character shards and some currency, the middle few give some ability mats and gear, and the last two give relic materials. So the two factions which are eligible for S&S are Phoenix and Nightsisters. The one group which seem better both for this and across the game are Nightsisters, so you’ll probably get the most out of making a squad of them. I’m not sure what the best team of Nightsisters is, but it will probably include Old Daka, Mother Talzin, Asajj and Merrin. Someone else might know who is best as a fifth or who should be leader.
You've picked the one assault battle that is hardest of them all to beat the top level.
An imperial trooper team has two assault battles where they can clear the top level with Veers lead, Piett, Range, Dark, and flexible 5th, maybe Starck.
With good enough mods you can get both rebel roundup and forest moon with one team and only need low relics on the team.
All assault battles give the same rewards from the mythic tier up. They are all a little different for the first few reward tiers.

Though, I should warn you Secrets & Shadows would be universally accepted as the hardest one by far. I have over 11M GP and have not completed the last tier yet.
