So i laid down $20 through iTunes to purchase enough Crystals to buy a Chromium Mega Pack. It shows you the "Top Drops" and advertises the "best chance" to get Kylo Ren. What I got was a bunch of duds! Nothing from "Top Drops" and no Kylo Ren cards. I feel supremely ripped off and will NEVER spend money on this game again. EA needs to stop with the false advertising ASAP.

I think the packs advertises "Chance to unlock Kylo", the "Better chance" for 4x and "Best chance" for 8x. I think the phrasing is confusing, as generally speaking, most often none would lead to unlocking any particular chance. I understand how you feel!
Advertising wordplay at it's best...
While I agree that it sucks, it is not false advertising, as 8x packs do give you the "best" chance compared to 1x or 4x. Although if you were to buy 8 packs at the individual price, or two 4x packs, your chances would be exactly the same, although costing more crystals. The "best" chance comes from the quantity of attempts, not the packs being coded to give you better drops.
When it comes to F2P games, and advertising in general, you really have to read into the words they use. If they are using words like: Chance, possibility, might, may, probably, could, or any word that implies uncertainty of results, they have already forewarned you that you might get screwed. It is your risk to take at that point.
Ultimately, it's just like gambling, except your winnings can't be cashed it for anything useful outside of the game.
Really it's not a better chance. It's x% (x being whatever the internal chance for a character drop is) 8 separate times. Unfortunately EA does not have the foresight and/or desire to actually increase the odds of a character pull for larger packs.
Other mobile games guarantee a specific type of drop, an increased percentage of a rare drop, or both as an incentive to drop more money on larger packs.
I remember EA's Heroes of Dragon Age freemium iOS game a while back. I think I spent about a hundred bucks trying to compete on the leaderboards. Heheh, yeah. No. Want the best characters in a freemium game, you need to spend thousands. No crumby game like this is worth that, but there's still dum*a*ses out there that blow their disposable income on it, and EA markets games with that in mind. Why do you think they released the new Force Awakens characters in a pack that costs $100? Because people pay it. Almost all the people in the top 20 have Kylo Ren now.
I agree with you, that you shouldn't spend money on games like this. Play for free for a bit, maybe toss $5-10 bucks on it if you like it (Dooku is certainly worth $5). You'll get nowhere spending $20-50 though.
Thankfully, I feel their free version is balanced and playable, in that you get a fair amount of crystals daily though pvp ranking rewards and completing the daily activities, (52 from activities, 50-ish from Galactic War, and between 100-250 for rankings) and you can farm other game currency (Cantina Shipments, Galactic War Shipments) to buy specific character shards.
Looking for allies level 40+
It is still a better "chance", given the other methods of acquisition. 8 attempts is more than 1 or 4, thereby increasing the chances of one or more being the one with the desired results. 1x is better than none, 4x better than one, etc. It's just that to some, the "best chance" statement implies the packs will have an increased percentage of the desired character being dropped, which we know is likely not true. The ambiguity of their wording is intentional.
I totally agree with this statement, and some others.
There is nothing wrong with tossing a few bucks to a game you enjoy, but do it in an amount that you can easily walk away from if you lose interest, the games changes, or it dies completely. Don't treat it like an investment. Just my opinion though.
I agree there's some wordplay at work when advertising those packs..what made it worse was the "Top Drops" list which got me thinking the 4-star characters dropped most frequently. i was totally fooled. anyhow, it's still one of the better freemiums out there.
Then to make it worst, I got Fisto and a shard pack for him as well. That is why I felt a lil ripped off lol. Anyway, luck of the draw I suppose. I get terrible luck with these.
I do wish they would make the 8 pack have a guaranteed 4 star like they do for the pre-global launch people...most of 8-packs I have bought did not contain a 4-star

This is what EA expects you to deal with. If anything, they expect you'll drop another $100 like it's nothing and maybe $500 over the next few weeks and smile as you receive junk and then say "aww shucks, guess I should buy another". The model customer is wealthy and brain-dead....
Whats the secret?
Don't feed the troll.
Ewok elder seems redundant with daka in arena or GW or cantina, unless you are worrying about the light side and dark side battles.
Would recommend you to look for some heavier hitters.
Freemium game models are based on the top 3% of players (i.e., 'whales') who spend $100's, if not $1000's, simply because they can. Another 17% will spend $5-100. The remaining 80% or so will spend <$5.
If you want it free, and don't want ads, rich folk gotta cover it for you. HA!
For their money they get to be the top of leaderboards (and get best and fastest rewards) as well as all the fun of playing with crazy squad set ups for different situations.
Honestly, when you look at a game like say.. The Witcher 3 at $60 then look at this game there is a pretty HUGE disparity in quality and development. I'd love to see a paid version of this game for $10 or even $20 on the appstore that just let you play it without all the gating. Would sure be fun!
So you expected $20 to get Kylo? this is not wonderland..
Heck, characters are only $2-5 (with an option to buy with in game gold you can earn pretty quickly) in Heroes of the Storm and it's a much bigger game.
