New player, I'm hooked!

Hi everyone! I'm a relatively new player, hooked as hell! I've pretty much purchased all that can be, and my main question this:
In the game, in the character section, there is always a red 3+ lit up, to me indicating that there are upgrades or something like that. However, I always scroll through each character and never see anything. Does anyone know, or can someone please explain what that is or how to make it go away? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you and Merry Christmas

Perhaps you have some char to promote or perhaps an ability to upgrade - that kind of things

Thanks for the reply. I normally know how to do that, but there is nothing there, unless missing something

The badge also bugs out sometimes. Mine is always 3+ due to the heroes I'm ignoring.
