Question about advantage

I just started playing and I'm about to get the first order TIE pilot. It said he has great damage when he has advantage. What does that mean?

I just read his abilities and it always states that they're doubled. Whether it be the chances to attack again or for it to be a critical hit

Ignoring armor and resistence of enemies.

The pilot gets advantage either from Plasmas ability or when health of an enemy drops below 50 percent.
